RUSH: Now, I checked the email during the break, and a number of you have asked why I havent provided an update on treatment. Folks, this is a tricky answer because theres two sides to this. One of the things that I have learned in the short period of time since Ive been diagnosed is, if youre not careful, this disease can take over your life. It can take over everybody in your familys life and it becomes all consuming, which I dont think is good. Im trying to avoid that happening.
I dont want every day to become scans, blood draws, notes, records, phone calls to doctors, and this kind of thing. Im doing whats been prescribed. So far, its working. I really, I really believe Im running a risk saying this, but I really, really (chuckles) I really believe all of your prayers are having an impact. I cannot tell you how good I feel. The other side of this is that other people think that it could be inspirational for those also suffering from the diagnosis or from cancer in their own ways, and thats true too.
So Im caught in the middle. I dont want to live it. I dont want to. I dont want it to overtake my life. Its a big enough part of it as it is now, as it must be. But I dont want to spend so much time on it. I dont want to keep everybody updated every day. Its just (sigh) Im just not comfortable talking about myself. Im happier thanking everybody for all their ongoing support; then the other side of it is, I know full well how inspiring it can be.
Alex Trebek is inspiring a lot of people, according to a story in the New York Post today. So, to me, its about finding a happy, a proper balance here. Cause I guarantee you, you could get sick and tired of me talking about it if I did, and if I answered as many questions about it as people are getting. So bear with me through all this, and I guarantee you: You will not end up being uninformed.
God bless him and deliver him. A sadness comes on me knowing how much we would miss him...
Rush being Rush...precise, deliberate, tactful and well thought out. We are living in your world Rush....do what you gotta do. We are all here for you! Prayers...
Praying every day for Rush.
Sending prayer now. Dear LORD Jesus, thank You for making Your presence felt and known in Rushs life. Please draw him closer to you and to Your son. And if it be Your will, please give him many many more years ahead and that You be glorified in them!
He is getting the latest-greatest treatments available. If it can be slowed or cured, he will get the best necessary to do just that.
The last five minutes of the series House was about how life was worth living regardless.
His best friend, an oncologist, said, “The cancer, when it gets bad . . . “
House replied, “Cancer is boring.”
Then he put on his motorcycle helmet and the two sped off and the series ended.
Rush is right. Too many people use this as a "Look at Me! I have Cancer. Boo Hoo" gimmick.
Old soldiers never die. They just fade away.
God Bless Rush..continued prayers, I know he can beat this!
Sending you LOVE and HEALING Rush!!!
And I believe “Enjoy Yourself, It’s Later Than You Think” was playing as they rode away.
The initial shock is yes you have it. Once past that, its time to attack it if possible. Fighters fight and Rush will fight it. Hopefully hell win. Never go down without a fight and a prayer
The initial shock is yes you have it.
I know that feeling all too well.
Me too. The Doc laid out a plan and asked me when I wanted to start treatment. I told him last week. Currently cancer free, so far. It is what it is.
Congrats! Same here...
Rush,
I listened to some of the show today. You actually sounded very well, upbeat (as normal) and full of energy. On a roll if you will.
Regards,
Frank
Amen, FRiend.
Prayers up for both of you to stay cancer free.
