“Every Ponzi Scheme has to have a broadening base or reality steps in.”

Most people don’t care about culture, they care about money. The people we are inviting in are heavy breeders and almost all are from socialist countries. When they are ascendant they will put a boot on our necks. But hey, we’ve gotta save Social Security.

I have heard that argument regarding immigration & socials security. However I don’t see how these people save social security. The vast majority of the illegals are unskilled, uneducated (sub K-12 at best!) illiterate in English and many times even Spanish. (Speak an Indian dialect!). A drain on social security yes, contributors NO! How is that argument that they are going to save social security even constructed?

we do

No, we don't - what we need is to let wages rise, and cut back on welfare so sit-on-your-ass isn't competing with less-skilled occupations.

Completely agree.

My younger son’s father-in-law teaches an engineering course at Rutgers, and tells me that most of his students are foreigners. He believes that the reason is that many American students avoid the hard stuff in favor of easier studies. So there is a lack of trained candidates in certain disciplines, and a subsequent demand that they be imported.

Currently there are 3.5 million under- or unemployed American STEM graduates. It's possible that we have a pipeline problem brewing down the road; the answer is to act now to stop subsidizing valueless degrees.

I’m taught at Auburn University in Alabama for 22 years teaching Computer and Electronic Communication Sciences. I had up until recently a whole big group of white and nerdy, Asian and nerdy and even black and nerdy students.

There’s still plenty of great schools teaching STEM here in the good ole USA.

Now if you look at California, Midwest and especially Northeast schools, and the typical liberal arts, social “sciences” and various “studies”, English Lit, Journalism, or Media type communications, then yes, you’d be right. Those would be “get stoned and party” curriculum majors.

The main thing this group learns to say in the after college work place is “Do you want fires with that?”

This. STEM is really pushed, anecdotes aside.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Exactly! Way, way, waaaay too many American kids majoring in “Undeclared”, “Gay Lesbian Studies”, “Womens’ Studies”, “Psychology”, etc.

Reporter meets a guy on the street and asks him what he thinks of the economy. He responds, “I have a college degree and $200,000 in student debt and I can’t find a job.” Journalist asks him, “What’s your major?” He replies, “Puppeteering.” Unfortunately, that’s not a joke. It actually happened just a few weeks ago, but I can’t find the link.

Colleges and Universities used to stress education in “The Liberal Arts”.

Now it’s just “Liberal Indoctrination”................

How about the companies training their own employees like they used to?
And not demanding that 35-40 is the max age for IT?

I think there always is a balance between immigration and caring for your domestic population. I actually am in favor of legal immigration and don’t want to close down the borders. But I also can’t deny that the immigration program that we’ve had for the past several decades (since the 60s really) has been a significant contributor to some areas of the country being left behind in poverty, drug addiction and unemployment. I didn’t always think this way but I’ve changed my view. Less immigration will pull more of the domestic population into the workforce and make them productive. That will require some effort but it will happen.

Also excellent pro-American ways to address any problem.
