Former California Republican congressman Dana Rohrabacher confirmed in a new interview that during a three-hour meeting at the Ecuadorian Embassy in August 2017, he told Julian Assange he would get President Trump to give him a pardon if he turned over information proving the Russians had not been the source of internal Democratic National Committee emails published by WikiLeaks.
In a phone interview with Yahoo News, Rohrabacher said his goal during the meeting was to find proof for a widely debunked conspiracy theory: that WikiLeaks real source for the DNC emails was not Russian intelligence agents, as U.S. officials have since concluded, but former DNC staffer Seth Rich, who was murdered on the streets of Washington in July 2016 in what police believe was a botched robbery.

You believe Isikooff?
That's newspeak for: It really did happen.
Yes, Rohrbacher saying he’d ask Trump to give him a pardon is not nearly the same thing as Trump saying he’d grant a pardon.
Either Rohrbacher was teasing Assange to prove a negative (that the Russians had done the hack) or suborning perjury (manufacture proof for a pardon).
Odd.
Details, details.
Question is do you believe Rohrabacher? This is not some 'unnamed sources' story. Rohrabacher spoke on the record for this and Isikoff is quoting him.
He “WOULD GET” him a pardon. No story. Rohrbacher threw out a trial balloon w/o even talking to our President. Big deal!
B-1 Bob Dornan accused Rohrbacher of double crossing him. Dornan was a super patriot who marched with MLK wearing his military uniform.
I would think that if he had believed him, he would have jumped at the offer. So what makes you think he believed him?
My reaction on reading that as well.
The idea we have any proof THE RUSSIANS were responsible for the Wikileaks release is laughable. But of course everyone knows it was the Russians!
This is a nothing burger. He never discussed it with Trump and when he floated the idea to John Kelly, the response was to prevent him from having contact with the President.
Which is different in multiple ways.
Trump offered nothing.
There was no discussion of "covering up".
Rohrbacher was apparently making an effort to confirm that Seth Rich was the guy who gave Wikileaks the info. A perfectly good thing to investigate.
Actually today's version is Rohrabacher said he could get the pardon without ever actually talked to Trump about what he was promising, either before or after he promised it. Nowhere in this story did Trump actually say he'd pardon Assange. It's all a figment of Rohrabacher's imagination. And Assange fell for it.
Yes indeed - “widely debunked” = True.
Assange's lawyer said Trump promised a pardon. Obviously someone in the Assange camp believed him.
Please note the article says that he wanted actual information, not a made up story. There is nothing wrong with that. Whether or not it’s wrong to say he would then work to get Assange a pardon is another question, but he certainly had the right to say it in a conversation.
While they twist all of this around, I believe Wikileaks never reveals its sources, but that Assange already said the source was not the Russians. He was being asked for evidence of his claim.
I recall that many people were calling on Trump or sessions to pardon Assange for information on hack and that the answer was no, either by silence or by explicit no. Perhaps memory is faulty.
