Deadly coronavirus 'kills 15 PER CENT of patients over 80' and the never-before-seen strain is 'up to 20 TIMES more infectious than SARS'

The deadly coronavirus rapidly sweeping the world kills up to 15 per cent of patients over the age of 80, scientists have revealed.

Chinese health officials carried out the biggest ever study on the never-before-seen strain of the virus, using data from 72,000 cases.

Results showed the SARS-CoV-2 virus posed the greatest threat to older patients and those with underlying conditions, such as cancer.

Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention researchers also found 80.9 per cent of infections are mild. Less than five per cent are critical.

A separate group of virologists studying the coronavirus have also claimed it is up to 20 times more infectious than its deadlier sister SARS.

More than 73,000 cases have been recorded worldwide, with 99 per cent in China. Almost 1,900 patients have already died.

“Sweeping the world” apparently means, “virtually unknown except for one city in China.”

New infections in the past three days outside of Asia: 0

This has the distinct odor of Propaganda to drive a fear and move the meme

There are other stories circulating that a lab in California found a vaccine in 3 days and is trying to get through ramping up and testing

Lots of FUD out there to pivot people away from the truth and into panic

FUD

Fear
Uncertainty
Doubt

Mind games

I feel the gnarly grip of George Soros in all of this

Leaked footage coming out of China suggests they might be making the problem worse by breathing copious amounts of aerosolized germicide which itself can cause chemical pneumonia.

So, how many of you who have been following this think we may get to use all that freeze dried food some of us have been stockpiling? As one who has not been paying much attention to the Corona virus, I’m starting to hear the distant rumble of thunder.

My numbers show about a 15% mortality among those who have been through the full course of infection. IOW 85% recovered, 15% died, for those of you in Rio Linda...
Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

Oh, and that 15% is for the past week. It was higher, either that was an artifact of a thin data base, or today’s lower mortality comes from “improved” reporting, or better treatment.

a sobering thought from the article;

Can the virus be cured? The COVID-19 virus cannot currently be cured and it is proving difficult to contain. Antibiotics do not work against viruses, so they are out of the question.

Antiviral drugs can work, but the process of understanding a virus then developing and producing drugs to treat it would take years and huge amounts of money.

No vaccine exists for the coronavirus yet and it's not likely one will be developed in time to be of any use in this outbreak, for similar reasons to the above.

...kills up to 15 per cent of patients over the age of 80

Mike Bloomberg is very happy to hear that. He wants to withhold healthcare from "elderly" people. At times he seems to mean anybody over 60.

Actually, killing only 15% of those over 80 who contract the disease, is
good news.

As of this moment, there are only 470 non Diamond Princess people outside
China who have the Coronavirus.

The Diamond Princess has become the petri dish where 53.45% of all cases
outside China were confirmed.

Of that 470, I believe 14 are also people taken off the ship and brought
to the U.S. There may be some of them now counted in Japan's numbers
as well.

The spread of the disease has not been rapid outside of China. The
actual figure may be down around 450 or perhaps even a bit lower not
counting the D. P. numbers.

I'm more focused on how this spreads in the general population.
That gives us some indication of what growth rates can be expected ahead.

It should be noted that of the cases identified, now 153 have been
found to be recovered from the illness.

Five are dead, unless that changed from late last night.

Fewer active cases, means fewer people will be infected.

This virus is similar to the flu. It does cause pneumonia. And that can cause death, especially in the elderly and long time smokers or other people with lung damage.

The reality is that China has a lot of smokers. Many adult men smoke in China. And China has some very bad pollution in many cities.

Because the virus was covered up until after the start of the Chinese new year mass migration, the virus spread more than would be usual. Other things helped the spread. The virus causes lots of coughing which spreads the germs because the germs live in the respiratory system. And the virus seems to spread before and after fever. So many people with the virus are at school or work. That being said, the virus is similar in most respects to the common flu. A little more easily spread. And a little more easily causing pneumonia.
