Another 99 people have tested positive for coronavirus onboard the stricken Princess Diamond cruise ship docked in Japan, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 454.
Meanwhile concern is growing over possible infections among passengers from another cruise liner that docked in Cambodia last week. On Sunday a traveller from the MS Westerdam was confirmed to have the virus in Malaysia, days after disembarking along with hundreds of other passengers.

Japanese public health experts advising the government defended the decision to isolate passengers and crew on the Diamond Princess.
Many people are testing positive on the ship, but that is because we are testing everyone onboard, regardless of their medical condition, said Shigeru Omi, the chief director of the Japan Community Health Care Organisation. And 70% of those testing positive are not showing any symptoms at all.
With fresh cases emerging daily, the Japanese government has advised citizens to avoid mass gatherings. On Monday it cancelled celebrations for the emperors birthday, while organisers of the Tokyo marathon cancelled next months mass participation race, in which 38,000 people were due to take part.

Always lots of false pos and false negs due to interfering substances and specificity errors on gen 1 tests.
If you have internet access to Freerepublic during your free quarantine, you’ll be alright.
There are still uninhabited islands out there. Admittedly, the reason they're uninhabited is because they won't sustain life - no food, no water, no shelter - but these can be supplied by airdrops until the virus burns itself out. Tents, fresh water, canned food - it'd be no vacation but better than sitting in a cabin listening to your neighbor cough his lungs out.
I'd much rather take my chances on the beach...
a month long cruise (Australia/New Zealand)
On Fox News today, a dr from Vanderbilt was interviewed and said that Japan and Diamond Princess had no choice, Japan did not have facilities to accommodate/quarantine all onboard.

Great facility, and one that is located near my extended family.
However, there is not enough beds for this.

Just in time for the Captains lobster dinner party?
I know that that ship is going to have a fresh coating of paint and a new name as soon as she gets tented and fumigated with the strongest antiviral misters known to man.
No way someone is going to buy tickets to cruise on that thing after this now, it will be interesting to follow the ship and see what happens to it. I bet it changes hands three times through shell corporations, renamed, cosmetically altered and then put back into service hoping its not wide spread news which ship she was.
Anyone with half a brain knows what happens when you lock up several thousand people in a confined area with someone has a communicable disease. Viola! They will all get the disease.
When the disease has a 4 percent fatality rate, scores of them will DIE! The Diamond Princess line faces major lawsuits, and it deserves them all.
