NASCAR named Trump the grand marshal of the Daytona500, marking the first time a sitting president has held the honor. Trump AND THe FIRST LADY is planning to take a lap around the track prior to the NASCAR event in the presidential limousine known as The Beast
The U.S. Secret Service will have more than 500 agents on site at the Daytona500 according to people briefed on the security plan, one of the largest presences by the Secret Service in all of American history.
➖ Air Force One may fly over the track before it lands.

Air Force One was Flirting with the crowds!..and they ate it right up!
Also on road course with the switchbacks the cars don’t reach
the speeds as on ovals.
With FOX playing last year’s Daytona during the delay, it highlights one glaring omission from this year’s program....
A certain Southern accent in the announce booth...namely DW.
It just ain’t the same.
Oh, yeah! And the crowds LOVE IT!
:::the cars dont reach the speeds as on ovals.:::
Race your best to the conditions.
So they go slower and it becomes a drivers race, not who has built the hotest car.
nascar has permitted the use of windshield wipers on road courses...
as far as other races are concerned they affect the downforce of the race car during higher speeds which opens the window of opportunity on stretching the limits on cheating using different size blades and placement...
Are there any true “Stock Car” races anymore?
Great pictures!
Trump is the highlight of the whole event.
Every day with Trump is a great day.
Trump Rally this coming week....Wednesday 6pm central. CSPAN to avoid enemedia outlets.
There’s nothing like the noise of a true sportscar, but the Beast itself gives off an unbelievable growl.
I was able to stand in as a producer for a documentary (Hist Channel, I think it was) on the new autos that were delivered to the White House in the early ‘00s. We filmed one of the cars at the Secret Service grounds along the Anacostia River, where they have a roundabout track for training and testing (not huge but big enough to run around).
We stationed a camera just after a rise so that the car would come into view from above — very cool footage. As I stood there waiting for it to come around, it sounded like a 100 Harley’s approaching from the distance, then booming as it went by. It’s a low-pitch, high-decibel roar from the huge engine and was unreal.
(Btw, I assumed it was a diesel from the sound, but they wouldn’t talk much about technical details, although I did get a few insights. Obama made the most idiotic claim that the next cars would by hybrid...)
I have the raw footage on a VHS tape somewhere, have to get that digitized (doesn’t belong to me, though).
Btw, Bongino likes to say that no one in the SS calls it “the Beast.” Not so — agents we interviewed freely called it that. And, they may well have been talking about Bongino himself when they made fun of agents on “Lipstick” duty, i.e. first lady detail, which I believe Dan was on at one point, and they completely slammed the agents stuck with protecting Hillary.
Got some great stories from them, some of which I am honor bound not to repeat.
Yes!.....Rush hour in most cities
negative... everything they implement is to maintain a level playing field...
next year nascar will be running a totally different race car than what we’ve been seeing the past few seasons...
Well, there's "Pure Stock" on dirt....one of my favorites. I saw some at a small town track in the Midwest last summer. They appeared to be stock bodied RWD V8s, but I doubt the engines were anywhere near "stock". They could lift the driver's side front wheel and carry it about halfway down the dirt straightaway....probably due to locked rear ends.
The Trans Am GTs are production based, I believe Tim Allen had a couple of hot-rod Mustangs, and of course all classes ran together, the fastest cars started at the front.
My wife proudly informed me that it is a 6 Liter turbo diesel.
For those who missed it here is the Grand Marshall speech.

Thanks! Just popped in (to FR) for a few minutes, will watch later. :-)
Thanks for your replies.
There is a drag-strip a few miles up the road from me
where you can just watch or even race your own car for a small fee.
It is a hoot to go and watch.
Last time I was there, I suspected a couple of entries
were on test-drive from a dealer!
What do they use for windshields on helicopters and small aircraft?
I thought that's what they developed it for.
They race in all conditions at Le Mans and yes they do change to rain tires, a crack pit crew can do this in a very few minutes.
