Ralph Waldo Emerson seemed to foresee the lesson of the Senate Impeachment Trial of President Trump. When you strike at the King, Emerson famously said, you must kill him. Mr. Trumps foes struck at him but did not take him down. A triumphant Mr.Trump emerges from the.....
.....biggest test of his presidency emboldened, ready to claim exoneration, and take his case of grievance, persecution and resentment to the campaign trail.

Yep, I’ve heard that, though didn’t know Emerson was the author of that saying, that if you are going to try to overthrow the king, you better kill him, otherwise you will suffer the consequences.
We don’t have a king.
“There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at with no result.” - attributed to Winston Churchill
President Donald J. Trump has had more projectiles launched in his direction, and dodged them, than almost any world leader ever has. His exhilaration must be off the charts.
Wait until he wins re-election...no holds Barred!!
They may well try that next, be alert SS!
The quote that got James Woods banned from Twitter
I think what got him though was adding “Hang them all” at the end of it
Trump thinks he is a king!

My understanding is that it wasn’t Emerson, but Machiavelli, who said that.
I can attest to that sentiment personally.
Trump hasn’t done a thing to the democrats. Considering their “impeachment” farce, they obviously do not fear him in the slightest. Trump is weak on crime.
Perhaps you missed a memo?
that was only true when the king actually had people under him who would actually carry out his orders of retaliation- it remains to be seen if anyone working for President Trump will actually support him and do what needs to be done or not- so far we’re not seeing any results- We’re only seeing barr scold the president, and noone is being held to account for anything yet- Now, that could change, but so far nothing-
We do have metaphors, though.
“When you strike at the King, Emerson famously said, you must kill him.”
As some German officers found out the hard way in July 1944.
The king survived.
Long live the king.
May God protect the king.
I also will not kneel before a metaphor.
Before he was officially a candidate I believe he had former US military guarding his family and him.3
There won’t be consequences for the assassins.
Our leftist courts will protect them.
