Attorney General William Barr told ABC News in an interview aired Thursday that President Trump had never asked him to do anything in a criminal case but advised the president to stop tweeting about the Justice Department, saying it makes it impossible for me to do my job.
The remarks are a significant and rare public break by the attorney general from the president, following days of controversy surrounding the Justice Departments decision to lessen a sentence for Trump ally Roger Stone after the president tweeted about his displeasure with the gravity of the original sentence recommendation.
I think its time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases, Barr told ABC in the interview.

This is kabuki folks.
How the hell does he think the President has felt these past 3+ years? Barr’s complaining about lousy tweets? The President has had a whole lot more to contend with all that time, and was still able to do his job. Just shut up Barr, and do your frickin’ job. Perhaps if you’d been on the ball to begin with, the extensive sentence recommendation for Stone might not have ever taken place. Did you even bother to approach the President behind the scenes about your concerns, before you took it to the press?
Sorry, didn’t see your post and said the same thing. This is kabuki. Win - win. We all know, and Barr shows his independence.
“And here comes Barr, right on time, trying to shutdown DJT just as he mounts an offensive. Trust the Plan my rear end.”
This 100%
Barr has done jack shit. Talks a little better game than Sessions but him and Lindsey Graham are all hat and no cattle.
Trump wouldn’t have to tweet admonishments and exhortations if he actually had allies.
Honey Badger? Yeah right, more like a Sloth.
Whaa! He's tasting a little bit of what President Trump has had to contend with for almost 4 freakin' years.
Barr has done NOTHING consequential during his 12 months as Attorney General - except please the Q-bots.
LOL - Trust The Plan!
My initial reaction was influenced by my distrust of the media. I've seen too many Republicans willingly and naively walking into the lions' den believing they will be treated fairly by the press.
If Barr is using this to separate himself from Trump and appear impartial then it's a brilliant move.
We'll have to wait for the hearing to see what's really going on or if there's any fall-out before that.
Like you need another lame excuse for not getting anything done, Bill?
Jeeze.
I agree. He should stop attending conventions, giving speeches, and speaking to the press, and take care of business back at the office. If he'd been doing his job, and knew what his people were doing, that extensive sentence recommendation on Roger Stone might not have ever occurred.
Thanks for some context.
At least Barr did say that Trump never told him to do anything in regards to these court cases.
But IMO, Barr should have stopped right there, instead of adding that Trump should stop "tweeting so much".
Or he should have perhaps added an explanation about why he has allowed some of these corrupt legacy Mueller prosecutors to continue railroading Stone and Flynn.
We need Patriots willing to go into the swamp temple and turn over tables. Not a Barr type sniveling about his boss’s tweets.
And as one who didnt have an extensive support network already established in DC, either.
I did notice that, thanks. He beat it because 52 GOP senators voted against it, which they did because the base is pro-Trump (while not necessarily n-dimensionalists) and anti-impeachment (and rightly so, as it was a farce).
Now it looks like the fore person in the jury, in the Roger Stone case, had significant bias. Add that to everything else, and this is not looking good for the Justice Department. @foxandfriends @FoxNews
This tweet by Trump is what this is all about. mcconnells boy barr is not doing his job.
Yep. Trump is naming names and getting uncomfortably close to the truth: partisan Democrats have been assaulting Trump supporters like Stone with GOP top cover. Most GOP voters have no clue Obama’s White House Deputy Counsel worked for the Mueller Coup and then went back to DOJ to prosecute Stone, etc. It’s outrageous and the GOP fully approves of that. Barr and Graham are terrified the GOP base will start to notice the GOP’s role in the ongoing coup.
“Sorta depends on what his job is.
If he thinks its to run cover for the Deep State and bury evidence, then yeah, Trump is making that more difficult for him.”
= = = = =
Bingo.
Oh really? And that's stopped the Democrats from plotting more investigations against the President? Now they're demanding documents on what the Secret Service has paid for stays at Trump's resorts. Yeah, Barr's been really effective in driving the Democrats nuts.
More context, thanks.
I'll have to search out for the full interview.
I still think that it was inappropriate for Barr, on ABC, to criticize Trump for tweeting too much.
Not until March 31st. Let's see if he actually does his job before then.
It’s the only ally he has in DOJ. That would be a terrible, terrible idea.
