This is another crap 'Sense (sic) of the Senate resolution. What is gagging is the hypocrisy of the GOP shyster voting against Trump akin to elementary school kids throwing rocks at the school bus, I note our fairly worthless Bush league senator Cassidy voted for this. He is better than Mary Landrieu, but that says little for him.

Resolution is just that, does not equal legislation needed to be signed - and in any case Trump would VETO it.

I thought that resolutions are non-binding (i.e., no power of law).

The sad situation is that the dems will vote against Trump, no matter how right he is or how much it hurts the country. Republicans do NOT have a loyal opposition.
To: robowombat
So when trump vetos this will they have the 2/3rds vote to override it?

The headline is a lie. Typical for the TDS infested “TheHill”. This was a resolution and is only some sort of CYA in an election year. The cowards in Congress will never take their responsibility for prosecuting war. They will always punt it to the President because they are cowards.

Congress has ceased to be in the war declaration driver's seat. As usual. another idiot senator that doesn't do his homework. The president as commander-in-chief has carte blanc to retaliate against any country. He is required to pull out or not continue aggression within 60 days. Then congress can declare war or not. That's how it's done. Nothing changes except the congress trying to take over the executive branch of the government. And if it is challenged in the supreme court, it will be declared unconstitutional and thrown out. The Department of Justice has articulated across several administrations, the Constitution vests the President, as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive, with the power to direct limited U.S. military operations abroad without prior Congressional approval when those operations serve important U.S. interests and are of a limited nature, scope, and duration. 50 U.S. Code § 1541.Purpose and policy: Sec C - limitation The constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, are exercised only pursuant to (1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces. It will be shot in the foot as soon as the supreme court gets it. rwood
