Three-and-a-half years after Donald Trump last visited the San Joaquin Valley as a candidate for President, hes headed back to the region.
Local sources told The Sun on Wednesday that Trump is expected to make the trek to the San Joaquin Valley next week for the first time since his candidacy in 2016.
The exact nature of the visit and his destination are not currently known.
The San Joaquin Valley hasnt been unfamiliar ground for Team Trump. In the past year, Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue, Vice President Mike Pence, and Second Lady Karen Pence visited the area.
Perdue held a town hall meeting in Los Banos with Reps. Jim Costa (DFresno), TJ Cox (DFresno), Josh Harder (DTurlock), and Doug LaMalfa (ROroville).
The Pences visited in July for a whirlwind tour. The Vice President headlined a fundraiser at Harris Ranch, then held a rally on the USMCA trade agreement in Lemoore. Meanwhile, Karen Pence met with military families at NAS Lemoore and toured downtown Hanford.
A Trump visit would coincide with another high-profile visit from Interior Secretary David Bernhardt. Bernhardt is scheduled to headline a forum on California water with Rep. Devin Nunes (RTulare) on Tuesday.
Trump himself last visited the Valley for a fundraiser in Tulare shortly after he accepted the Republican nomination at the GOP convention in Cleveland.
The Sun has contacted The White House for comment on this visit and will update this story.
He should go to California more often. MANY people there are Trump supporters. I would LOVE to see California split their Electoral Votes for each candidate. But that only happens in Red states where the Blue Reps outnumber the Red Reps, yes?
President Trump needs to be all over California. Do not surrender it to the Commies.
Well since it’s been announced I guess it’s not a surprise anymore.
It’s not much of a surprise when it’s announced a week in advance.
I’ll be in L.A.. Shucks.
Make the opposition earn the electoral votes. It’s always bothered me that we just hand California to the Dems every four years. Maybe it’s a lost cause. Maybe not.
If our President could win the electoral votes from CA, that would be a more monumental achievement than any other achievement — by far!!
I would love to drive down to attend if there is a public event. It would depend on which day. I am east of Sac. in the foothills so San Joaquin isn’t too far away.
About damned time.
It was the Bushes that sold us out here, it’s got to be a Republican that helps recover this once great state.
GWB and the RLC backstabbed us here, the Democrats are just the same opportunistic buggers they’ver always been, but the Republicans have sold us out, let us down, and occasionally some satanic retards *calling* themselves “conservative” bitch and gripe about ‘Commiefornia’ or ask why we cons still live here (A big giant F-U to them all).
Trump knows there a LOT of us who are neither moving nor yielding to the morons in Sacramento.
How can it be a surprise after it was revealed?
I hope he has the sense to not invite Schwarzenkennedy or Re-Pete Wilson to attend any of his events.
A trip to the Reagan Museum might be a nice touch... visiting the HSR monument isn’t worth a stop.. more like a disaster flyover opportunity.
