I’ve been a Democrat for 20 years. Here’s what I experienced at Trump’s rally in New Hampshire.

Normally when I publish content online, I focus on the world of work. I hope you’ll forgive this brief departure, but I think that those of us on the left need to take a long look in the mirror and have an honest conversation about what’s going on.

If you had told me 3 years ago that I would ever attend a Donald Trump rally, I would have laughed while assuring you that was never going to happen. Heck, if you had told me I would do it 3 months ago, I probably would have done the same thing. So, how did I find myself among 11,000+ Trump supporters in Manchester NH? Believe it or not, it all started with knitting. You might not think of the knitting world as a particularly political community, but you’d be wrong. Many knitters are particularly active in social justice communities and love to discuss the revolutionary role that knitters have played in our culture.

As a casual knitter, I never really paid attention to this. I knit as a way to relax and escape the drama of real life, not to further engage with it, but for anyone who is active in the knitting world on Instagram, it became almost impossible to avoid it. It started about a year ago when roving gangs of online social justice warriors started going after anyone who was not lockstep in their ideology. People were bullied and mobbed by hundreds of people for such offenses as publishing an article expressing excitement about going on a trip to India, posting a video saying they were leaving IG because they were uncomfortable, and posting a poem asking for kindness. Katherine Jepsen Moore has documented the full stories extensively and the BBC recently covered it as well

And the biggest question of all was this: Did I hate Trump so much that I wanted to see my country fail just to spite him and everyone who voted for him? >>>>> Asking this question makes her a heretic to the Left!

_______

You're right.

You are welcome.

It would be great for the country if more "innocent" Dems. had the Trump Rally experience that this writer did.

I question some of her conclusions, but this is a great piece to prove one of our points: those who call us names do not know us.

_______

Yes indeed.

More Rallies Please!

The author is right about leftist knitters. A large online knitting site banned Trump supporters last summer.

>>>>>> How gross! (Sounds just like those “tolerant” Dems.)

And yes, he lies. This is provable.>>>> And yet, she can't be bothered to list any.

_______

To be honest, in her article it really wasn't the time to start debating some of Trump's "facts".

Regardless of TDS, everyone looks into their 401K, wallets, tax returns BY SELF-IMPOSED FORCE.

Everyone always internalizes, seeking true happiness and contentment, is this the career that I marrow deep want? No? For the 1st time in GENERATIONS, I can change jobs and still pay the bills uninterrupted.

It’s called the TASTE OF LIBERTY (through financial unchaining)

I was going to post that very quote and comment on it exactly as you did., But with that small exception, it was a very interesting, informative and uplifting report.

“And yet, she can’t be bothered to list any. “

Mornin’ mew,

I ran into this issue with my sister who often leaves the news on in the background for company. It’s just a voice nattering in the background that makes it seem like she isn’t alone in a huge old house. She will often spout a leftist talking point, climate change, racism, something about ICE, etc. I will ask her questions about it and she has no data. She just knows it is true because, she “heard it somewhere.” I pointed out how her subconscious is listening to the news and taking it all in without any conscious logic or questioning. I think that is where the author got his, it’s provable comment.

“””””””””’And I know one yarn shop where there is a sign on the door to leave your politics, any and all politics, outside. I really doubt this cr@p has been good for business.”

I visit a site every day for one of my hobbies. The owner will zot anything that has even a hint of politics in it.

If you go to his personal Facebook page it is 100% full of pro Trump memes and topics.

He is wise to keep it away from the discussion board.

If she couldn’t be bothered to list one or two, she shouldn’t have made the assertion.

I think she may have tossed that in there just to throw a bone to her TDS-afflicted friends.

If so, I think less of her for doing it.

Woke. Almost.

It takes time to wipe the sleep from her eyes.

"But tomorrow, I’ll be changing my voter registration from Democrat to Independent and walking away from the party I’ve spent the last 20 years in to sit in the middle for a while."

Too bad the Cheap Labor Express Globalist Republican Party is such a shi++y alternative. The Republicans should be kicking butt and taking names but it’s not, ASK YOURSELF WHY.

The reverse is true also. when a conservative is able to see and witness the transformation of a liberal at a Trump rally it is a beautiful miracle or at least seems like one.

I remember saying similar things back in ‘68.
As a child of 10, I saw people protesting the war in Vietnam with acts that were almost as bad as Vietnam.
Soon after I realized that what we were being told was probably a lie and there was more to these protesters than we were told.

Only 10 years later did I realize how much America had been lied to by the ‘60s and discovered that many people my age had come to the same conclusion.

We might be seeing a new generation of Conservatives assuming the GOP-e gets out of the way.

What is taking people so long to realize, that the Democrat Party of today, is a shell of the party of Truman and JFK???
