More than 100,000 people are expected to pack into the world's biggest cricket stadium later this month when it is formally opened during a visit to India by US President Donald Trump, officials said. Workers in Ahmedabad are rushing to finish the 110,000-capacity Sardar Patel Stadium, which will overtake the 100,000-seater Melbourne Cricket Ground as the world's biggest cricket venue. Trump is due for a two-day visit to India on February 24, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to host him in his home state of Gujarat. The spectacle has been dubbed "Kem Chho Trump", or "How Are You Trump", according to officials.

Standing room only crowds of 110,000+ is what I expect. I know that region, I grew up there.

I figured 10,000. Maybe 25,000. But 100,000 for a cricket match! You’re right, Indians are crazy about cricket.

Would be very cool...

Indians are crazy about cricket. The game has changed much since I was in India pre-1960. It is much faster now. But I recall spending 5 days glued to the radio broadcast of play by play of matches between India and either Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies!

Rest assured, Trump is very popular there and it will go without a hitch. He will be well protected anyways.

Give the Trump forces a chance to fill a 100,000 seat in MAGA - KAG country, and we will put another 100,000 on the ground outside, at the same time. YOU LIKE THAT!

THIS- should be one of the goals of Trump 2020... somewhere in the U. S. of A. Unfortunately, I can only think of the LA Coliseum as being capable of such capacity. Anybody?

Three important words: Security, Security, Security!
There are probably some of the Trump Team there right now, learning what that area entails. Highest perches, obscuring foilage, etc.

And now Trump has a Hindu nation of over a billion eating out of his hand.

PM Modi helps with that. What a friend we have in India!

Yeah, I know, H1B visas and all that.

But India is also an ally of Israel. Bad news for muzzies. I’ll take India over Pakis any day.

Ann Arbor and a few of the other top college stadiums maybe, but even in the South the protests from the rabble rousers would prob be off the charts.

Well said. World’s oldest democracy (USA) and world’s largest democracy (India) are natural allies. With leaders like Trump & Modi, future looks bright.

As for H1-B visa issue, those laws were written by Americans, not Indians. Reagan & both Bushes supported it. Yeah I know capitalism is hard for those who face competition. But competition is the heart and soul of capitalism and why it brings prosperity to the country practicing it.
