Three more GP practices in England have closed due to fears over the spread of novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
Ritchie Street Neighbourhood Health Centre in Islington, London, announced today that it will be closed until tomorrow due to the potentially fatal virus.
A notice on its website said any patients that have... symptoms should call [NHS] 111 and not come to the practice.
This afternoon a second GP practice, based in Farnham in Surrey, has closed down after treating a patient who had travelled from one of the areas most-affected by the virus.
The Ferns Medical Practice confirmed the patient was seen on the practice premises yesterday.
A statement on its website said: As a precautionary measure, the practice has been closed today, 13 February, for a deep clean before opening again as soon as possible.
‘We have been working with our public health teams and would like to inform our patients that all measures are being put in place to assure public and staff safety.
A third practice, French Weir Health Centre, in Taunton, Somerset, also closed today, following a possible coronavirus case.
Thanks for the Bannon podcast. Adding it to my “to do” list.
We’re ordering stuff we use on a semi regular basis like power charger cords, headphones, etc. Also a hot plate. Many ovens/stoves here are made with parts from China. If our stove goes out in, say, May...I’d like to be able to actually cook still :)
Also pack of sponges and extra dish soap, just in case dishwasher does the same.
I don’t anticipate ‘we’ will turn into Wuhan.
But the supply chain stuff will hurt bigtime if this goes on another week or two. And I fully expect it to go on for more than a cpl weeks.
we brainstorm every night on what we can afford to have spares of that we consider ‘necessities’ that might be dodgy to replace 3 or 4 months from now.

Info on potties & germ spread.
It’s almost like they watched the Mythbusters episode from nearly 20 years ago...
“Also .... WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE WHOVE BEEN RELEASED, confirmed okay, etc???”
a neat thing to put in a new house
in bathroom UV lights
on a timer
turn them on with 30 second delay, close the door and they stay on for several hours.
Supposedly the Coronavirus infections are quite distinctive at least via x-ray. I’ve seen them referred to as looking like “ground glass”, whatever that means (sounds like sand or glass pebbles).
Didn't think they'd be invited to the now militarized P4 lab...
BTTT!
Evolution of the immune system from infancy to old age:

There are thousands of varieties of cold viruses.
The flu mixes genes with other flu varieties, and so several versions a year come through.
Not really the same.
For this Coronavirus, there is a semi-educated wondering whether the immunity from it is short-term, or persistent. Mutating is a completely additional problem.
