The Washington Post writes another hit piece and we get another Democrat 'search and destroy' mission.

They never stop.

Dems want $50,000 for Dem convention. Why don’t they just have it in a GUN-FREE ZONE.

Trump’s next 4yrs are going to be an unending nightmare of investigations and baseless charges, and maybe another impeachment or two.

More harassment. Voters will hopefully send House Democrats out to pasture in November.

So Congress can get real work done.

The impeachment was plan B. Is this plan C, the next shiny thing?

As long as POTUS charges the same rate as John Q Public would pay, there’s nothing wrong or unethical about it. POTUS is not the sole owner of his properties as I understand it. His children are also shareholders, so he has an obligation to them. There is also the potential lost opportunity cost associated with having the Secret Service stay there rent free. Those are rooms that could potentially be rented to the public at the going rate if the Secret Service weren’t staying there, so the Trump corp. shouldn’t be expected to absorb that loss just because POTUS would rather stay at one of his own properties when traveling rather than somewhere else. And of course, POTUS has already forgone approx. 1.5 million in salary over the past 3 years.

Read the 5th Amendment. Read the 3rd. You could infer a payment due from either one. SS paid rent to Joe Biden for their shack on his Delaware property. Certainly Obama receives compensation on both his Vineyard and Kalorama properties.

I don’t know how the Trump organization handles pro bono rooms. But back in my productive years there were several times I received free rooms at a hotel. I did receive a charge for the room on my bill at check out, and then it was zeroed out. The charge went into a “write off” category, I suppose. I am not an accountant.

Biden made a fortune in charging rent to Secret Service at his home in Delaware. They “rented” some outbuildings.

The demoncRats have lost any ability to reason they ever had.

The SS will have to pay for a room wherever Trump stays. So what if it is on his property?

Do they think other places a President would stay would charge hundreds less per night for those rooms? Ah no!

What do they think the Trump organization should do, give those rooms out free and take a financial loss on them the whole time he is there with the SS in tow?

This is just childish.

Note to demoncRats.

When you stay in a presidential suite, every other room's rate is a cheap rate.

I seem to remember very high payments to both Hillary and Biden for Secret Service to stay close to those they were protecting. So is this much different?

This is a nothing. Government sets per diem rates for lodging, food, and miscellaneous official expenses at localities. Government employees file a travel voucher upon completing their trip.

If, by chance, government employees were charged higher than the per diem, there’s usually a justification for mission need. In this case, it’s not feasible to expect agents protecting the President to stay at a “cheap sleep” 45 minutes away or even down the street. Communications needs to be set up in place at the President’s location.

I’d be surprised if any Trump properties charged more than the maximum locality rate—a nice gesture, but certainly not required as long as it’s consistent with what others are being charged. If the oversight busybodies are expecting the Trump properties to “comp” the stays of the entourage at zero cost, that isn’t allowed either as it could be considered a gratuity. The government has to pay for services received as long as it’s not fraudulent or excessive.

No doubt there’s a cadre of lawyers constantly reviewing all of this.

I have to admit, the charges to the SS at Mir A Lago seem to be a bit excess after a statement by Kushner where he said they only charge about $65 per night........

I sure hope someone can clarify this.........

The Biden SS detail is billed $2200 a month for their cottage adjacent to his waterfront home.
