Testing aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan has found 60 more confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, domestic broadcaster TBS TV said via Twitter.
That brings total cases on the ship docked in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, to 130, according to TBS. The liner was placed on a two-week quarantine on arriving at Yokohama on Feb. 3.

Hello muddah
Hello faddah
Here I am
In Yokohama
That the Chinese government were so concerned by this, so early, suggests to me that they knew more about this virus than they should have.
Voyage of the Damned. These people are nothing more than lab rats to see how an epidemic spreads thorough a ship.
Time to get everyone off that ship and into real isolation.
Nope. Theyre just fine right there. If someone gets sick enough to need intensive care which cannot be transported onboard, then take them off. This virus doesnt seem to be airborne, so the ship is better than moving them through populated areas to some kind of isolation tank, which is what I imagine youre thinking of.
I think we can get a good idea of the real infection and mortality rates, now that theyre in a first-world country and not the lying, third-world Communist China.
probably 3 dead, it’s not pretty but it’s not exactly the titanic
Was never keen on the big ocean cruise ship idea, then there were the norovirus events. Now this!? Oh heck no!
Isn’t that a violation of international law? I thought they had to take them into port even if they quarantined the ship.
Japan is a very complicated culture that does do things right in my opinion. They don’t let scum into their country like Muslims and similar disease.
OK. I hadn't heard that but kept on hearing 14 days like it was half over. It is nowhere near half over.
It could be worse. The bubonic plague had a 37 day infection period, which lead to the forty day wait from which the word quarantine comes from.
“How many people are on that ship in total?”
about 4500 crew and passengers
Yeah, 14 days is just their best guess.
I’m not an investment adviser, but if I were long on cruise ship stocks, I’d be a little worried right now. The sad story of the Diamond Princess in Japan isn’t going to have a positive effect on the cruise industry.
It is helluva souvenir.
“I have good news and bad news.”
“Okay - give me the good news first.”
“Your 7 day cruise has been extended to 7 weeks, at no cost to you!”
The math of 3600, resetting every time some one gets symptoms to 14 days is mind boggling. This is Twilight Zone level. If its true and I threw it out for my wife last night, its pretty scary. I got a couple cruise line tickets Ill sell you.
What a nightmare! I don’t see how they leave them all on the ship.
And each new case re-sets the 14 day clock.
Sounds like a bad week to run out of toilet paper.
This stuff sounds like it could make for a cool Movie Of The Week: “Cruise Ship Quarantine”.
