It is incredibly important to understand how “death rates” are being calculated. Some people have been looking at the number infected to date and comparing that number to the numbers of deaths to date.
We have been told it is 14 days before you show symptoms. Let’s suppose for this hypothetical case that it takes an average of another 10 days after the appearance of the disease symptoms until you die. It would seem to me that the death rate should be calculated by comparing the number that were infected 24 days ago with the number that are dead to date. For example, if a total of 1000 people were known to be infected 24 days ago and 100 have died to date the death rate would be 10%.
Comparing deaths to date to diagnosed cases to date understates to death rate.

I have no cooking knowledge whatsoever. The limit of my ability: Peanut butter sandwich or heating chili in the microwave. I once tried heating cooking oil (outside) and started it on fire. But I am great in the shop, handyman, car repairs, etc., So I could obviously learn.
Fortunately, there are four teenage girls (or almost teen) in the household who are learning cooking skills from others. We have all kinds of “off-grid” cooking equipment as well, along with propane and some solar power.

I don’t know anything about cornbread but did buy a couple of breadmakers. But probably need new yeast and the mix. Thanks.

Agreed, and I have been saying the same for a while now about the importance of dividing today’s deaths by total cases x days ago, x being avg duration of illness. I think that’s as close as we can get with the numbers we have.
And of course even those numbers are suspect because we don’t know how many people are infected because they don’t have enough tests, and we don’t know how many have really died,as it appears they’ve totally lost control of the situation.
