Snoop Dogg said Saturday he wasn't threatening CBS News anchor Gayle King over a recent interview in which she broached the Kobe Bryant rape case following his death last week.
The clarification comes after CBS News president Susan Zirinsky said the network "fully supports" King while vigorously condemning reprehensible threats made against King.
"When I said what I said, I spoke for the people who felt like Gayle was very disrespectful towards Kobe Bryant and his family," Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., said in a video on Instagram on Saturday.
"Now with that being said, what do I look like, wanting some harm to come to a 70-year-old woman? I was raised way better than that," the 48-year-old entertainer continued. "I dont want no harm to come to her and I didnt threaten her. All I did was say, Check it out, you outta pocket for what you doing and we watching you. Have a little bit more respect for Vanessa, her babies and Kobe Bryants legacy.
The rapper's latest comments come after he posted an earlier Instagram video in which he appeared to threaten King, telling her to "back off, b----, before we come get you." The comment was made amid criticism over her addressing the Bryant rape case.
The controversy was amplified further after former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice took exception to Snoop Dogg's threat by posting a warning on Twitter.
This is despicable, Rice wrote. Gayle King is one of the most principled, fair and tough journalists alive. Snoop, back the **** off. You come for @GayleKing, you come against an army. You will lose, and it wont be pretty.

This isnt 1990s snoop. I doubt hes threatening anyone .
Black accusing blacks of racism.
God I love when the various members of the protected classes go at one another. Never intervene when your enemies are fighting.
I give a lot of slack to Snoop and Chapelle. They are like the black Popeyes in today’s world. They is what they is. They bow to no man, money, color, gender, or spouse. They always listen, are patient, and very loyal to friends when possible.
Public spats seem to be pervasive nowadays. People have different opinions.
It's called America and free speech.
Give it a rest.
I’d like to break his scrawny little neck.
Screw Gayle King and Susan Rice both.
I seem to remember a photo of Poop Scoop crapper slimeball scumbag aiming a firearm at our president, or the proposed album cover (not used) of him standing over the corpse of POTUS with a Trump toe tag. Eff him and the horse he rode in on.
Kobe Bryant certainly disrespected that woman he raped.....
Snoop Dogg drove the car and hunted down a guy and his buddy then shot him dead so Gayle better be careful.....
"If you want to know who seeks to rule over you, simply find out whom you cannot criticize."
Prove that. Why would BRYANT have rape any woman when he had all kind of women throwing themselves at him. I think it was a shakedown, nothing more.
I didnt threaten her. All I did was say, Check it out, you outta pocket for what you doing and we watching you.
Sounds like a muzzie denial -- "all I said was, Salman Rushdie must be killed, I didn't say someone should kill him on sight."
He threatened her. Now he is trying to walk it back. So much for the thug rap persona. He’s a cuck.
The settlement and apology convey that it was not consensual and he acknowledged that.
it appears to be an early Christmas this year the way things have been going the past several days...
and most undecideds will quickly go to Snoop and Kobe, and not Gayle King and Susan Rice, in that “war”.
I’m pretty sure that there’s nothing threatening about him except big talk. And that’s an act.
One of my coworkers went to school with him. During a trip to Camp Snoopy at Knotts Berry Farm they decided that he looked just like Snoopy and hung that name on him. He was so insulted he did... nothing.
