LONGWOOD, Bronx (WABC) -- An NYPD officer was shot while sitting in a marked police van, sources say.
The officer was shot in the neck and chin on 906 Simpson St. in Longwood just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Sources say the suspect walked up, started asking directions and then opened fire at the officer. The officers then fired back.

I’d like to see that expanded upon.
That laptop was a gold mine of evidence against the left.
It was scooped up and not much on the news about it.
The Deep State put it in a lock box.

Nobody who answered here is wrong, but I have to think there’s something else at work.
The current anti-police wave DID start with Obama. I know, I was a police officer at the time. It happened almost overnight, “Obama’s sons” were in cops’ faces with the full expectation that there would be no repercussions.
Eric Holder as the “Top Cop” reinforced this idea, always on the wrong side of justice.
These cops were up North of Manhattan. The weiner cops were in the South.
When I was in NYC last month, I noticed that the NYC cops now wear cameras whereas last year they didn't.

I’m truly surprised there hasn’t been one already, or at least a serious case of blue flu.
My guess is that most cops are OK with the NY politicos telling them not to enforce the law in neighborhoods with a lot of “diversity”. Makes their job easier and they still collect the paycheck.
Of course crime will skyrocket, but that’s just more job security.
That holds until cops themselves become targets of violence, as is the case here.
Don’t be so gullible.
