Trump Fires Gordon Sondland Hours After Dismissing Impeachment Witness Alexander Vindman

President Trump and his aides wasted little time opening a campaign of retribution against those he blames for his impeachment, firing on Friday two of the most prominent witnesses in the inquiry against him barely 48 hours after the Senate acquitted the president.

Emboldened by his victory and determined to strike back, Mr. Trump fired Gordon D. Sondland, the ambassador to the European Union, within hours of the White House dismissing Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman, a decorated Iraq war veteran who was a Ukraine expert on the National Security Council. Both officials testified to a House committee about the president’s efforts to pressure Ukraine to help him against his domestic political rivals.

“I was advised today that the president intends to recall me effective immediately as United States Ambassador to the European Union,” Mr. Sondland said in a statement just hours after Colonel Vindman’s dismissal. He expressed gratitude to Mr. Trump “for having given me the opportunity to serve.”

“Trump should fire Wray too.”

I presume you are referring to he of the perpetual s**t-eating grin. When he was appointed by the President, I noted that grin and knew right away he would be trouble. The President made several appointment mistakes early in his administration. No surprise there as he had no previous Washington experience and was relying a great deal on the advice of others. He seems to have turned things around.

Glad to see him fire several traitors this weekend. Hopefully, he fires quite a few more. I sure hope the Secret Service is up to protecting him as now that the impeachment charade is over, there is only one way the corrupt commie bastards can get rid of him. Pray for President Trump’s safety.

Trump has to keep the ball rolling. Time to call Barr in on the carpet, grab his collar and slam him against the wall. “Look pal,.........”

“...They are in reality are arrogant, unprincipled, corrupt and undermining the integrity of our government institutions.....”

Yep. For sure.
Way back in the old days, we had a name for that: COMMUNISTS

Allow me a moment to thank—and this may be a bit of a surprise—Adam Schiff. Were it not for his crack investigation skills, @realDonaldTrump might have had a tougher time unearthing who all needed to be fired. Thanks, Adam! 🤣 #FullOfSchiff— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) February 8, 2020

I watched his testimony and his “assumptions” as you fairly characterized them indirectly formed the basis for his testimony based on nothing more this his supposition.

I was dumbfounded that such a person would be in that position to begin with - I guess he donated a lot of money. He did not come across as very bright to be charitable and I found his testimony to be “shady” (my own term). The most amusing thing about him was that when he was questioned by Schiff and Co. in private he must have been far more certain than he was in the open hearing facing cross-examination. Schiff looked very frustrated with him numerous times.

I had no confidence in him based on his own testimony and I am not surprised that Trump is letting him go - he serves at the pleasure of the President. Bye.

Far from it. Ambassadors are political appointees and serve at the pleasure of the President.

Vindman will still be paid by DOD as a LTC.

Sondland bought his job with a major donation so I guess he will just go back to being rich and bored. He was not civil service and served at the pleasure of the President, who had every right to be displeased.
