Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg, who recently rolled out his LGBTQ platform, is facing criticism after a 2016 video re-emerged this week, showing him using the term "man in a dress" to describe a hypothetical transgender woman.
In the clip, which was recorded at an event at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England, on Dec. 8, 2016, Bloomberg discusses the challenge of appealing to people on the opposite side of a political divide, in this case, Brexit.
Bloomberg said the division between people like him and attendees at the Oxford event, whom he described as "the intelligentsia" and "the vast bulk of people," was a divergence over "equality and protecting individual rights that make no sense to the vast bulk of people."
"They are not opposed to you having some rights, but there's a fundamental disconnect between us believing the rights of the individual come first and the general belief around the world, I think it's fair to say, that the rights of society comes first," Bloomberg continued.
"If you want to know if somebody is a good salesman, give him the job of going to the Midwest and picking a town and selling to that town the concept that some man wearing a dress should be in a locker room with their daughter," Bloomberg said. "If you can sell that, you can sell anything. They just look at you and they say, 'What on Earth are you talking about?'"
A Bloomberg campaign spokesperson pointed out in a statement Thursday that as mayor of New York, Bloomberg signed a gender identity nondiscrimination bill in 2002.
"Mike is running to defeat Donald Trump and reverse the many policies he has implemented that attack the rights of the transgender community," the spokesperson said.

His framing of the issue as the rights of the individual vs. society is wrong. I support the rights of indvidual girls and women to not to have to disrobe in front of men, and the rights of boys and men to not disrobe in front of women. I don't want children with gender dysphoria to have their bodies mutilated and the possibility of a normal life foreclosed.
He was QUITE sane at one point and a very good mayor.
Went on record as saying that whites are OVERLY approached by cops based on crime stats.
And other things that would haunt him terribly.
I don’t believe for a Second that he believes what he’s saying now.
It saddens and angers me that he is selling his soul for power and adoration or hate or whatever.
He was Never a conservative but he had a lot of common sense at once.
It’s gone.
...or did Bloomberg release this himself - to show himself with some degree of a ‘normal’ streak.
Yet another example showing that the ‘rats have too many individual groups to cater to; can’t please ‘em all. Must suck to be a ‘rat these days.
This is funny, to see liberals hoisted on their own petard. Bloomberg at one time was NOT on board with all this “LGBT etc” business. And now comes back to haunt him, as all good Democrats have to be liberal on “LGBT” issues; it’s required, it’s an article of faith in the Democrat religion that they honor and revere transsexual types, and not make light of their conditions.
Liberals never felt they had to 'sell' the idea - they put judges on the bench who create laws for the pervert who wants to go in the little girl's locker room. AND that judge puts Daddy in jail if he want to protect his daughters...
And if Bloomberg got in - he would do the same damn thing...
This guy is old enough and has been in the public eye long enough that theres got to be a veritable treasure trove of remarks, many much worse, which will enrage the pearl clutching pervert wing of the dem party. For once Mayor Cheat might not just roll over for a guy. Bernie probably wont call him on it but strutting perverts will.

The Bernie Bros are sending out their raiding parties. After they dispatch of Biden, they will have to go full-on the attack against Bloomy, something Bernie has never been good at. But since the mayor is as much a “sort of” Democrat as Sanders, he maybe wont feel so shy laying into him.
Bloomberg will have some problems with past sexual harassment issues in the near future. There was a blurb online from some female calling on him to release a number of women from non-disclosure agreements so they could tell their story. The blurb noted that Bloomberg had a history of problems with hostile work environments for women. Could well be PC b.s., but these days he won’t be able to skate past it without commenting on it.
I think some of the smartest people in the country, post articles and comments on this forum.
There is no way, in my mind, that Bloomberg stands a chance, and I haven’t read any commentary from anyone here stating the contrary.
I’m even going so far to say that I don’t think he’ll win any primary.
He forgot to virtue signal. Now he has to do the Hypocrisy Shuffle and explain how calling a spade a spade isn’t calling a spade a spade. And the pervs get to giggle and point as
yet another coward collapses to their thuggery.
What was his position on 2nd Amendment rights during this quite sane and very good period?
You know, from the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and all?
So you’re INSANE if you are against the 2nd amendment?
No you’re an idiot, but not insane. You’re also certainly not a conservative. And you certainly don’t respect the whole of the constitution.
But NONE OF THAT makes you insane. Look the word up.
Don’t send me another silly argument.
Make it intelligent and cohesive next time and worthy of a response or I won’t bother.

Doomberg can just write a big check to some pervert group.
He’s always been a Dem. He only became a Republican to get on the ballot to run for NYC mayor. At one time, NY Dems were somewhat sensible although I thought Bloomberg was a horrible mayor.
Bloomberg draws criticism for something accurate he said years ago. Criticism from whom? Still, it is nice to see Democrats having to deal with the problems they have created.
So, Mike the Bigot, what do you have to say for yourself?
oh, wait...
