Aside from the issue of what exactly did happen, you have the datum of The New York Times calling him a "white Hispanic". Could also be framed as "black on black" but that would be misleading too though not an outright lie.
The real truth of the way the MSM handled the story is they thought he was Jewish just because of the Germanic name.

It really bothers me that politicians would use this kind of language. It's not exactly a lie but it is completely misleading. African American Trayvon Martin jumped a Hispanic guy, started bashing his head into cement and then the guy successfully saved himself through justified self-defense. To equate that to "White Supremacy" is awful.
