[Sanders] has described himself as a democratic socialist. So what would that mean for business?
A lot, as his various plans lay out, touching nearly every facet of business in America and thats aside from the tax proposals he has made to foot the bill, which we covered last week.
Health Insurance: One signature Sanders policy is Medicare for All a single-payer national health insurance program with no networks, no premiums, no deductibles, no copays, no surprise bills. He would extend medical coverage to include dental, hearing, vision, prescriptions and long-term care, and then some.
Prescription Drugs: The federal government would be free to negotiate prices (it cant now), and individuals and institutions could buy drugs from Canada, presumably for less. U.S. drug prices would be set at the midpoint paid in Canada, the U.K., France, Germany and Japan.
Labor Relations: Mr. Sanders would eliminate right-to-work laws, require mergers to honor existing union contracts and pave the way for union organizing through majority sign-up. He would bar companies from receiving federal contracts if they pay less than $15 an hour (not counting benefits) or pay CEOs more than 150 times what a typical worker makes.
Shareholders: Public companies and others of sufficient size at least $100 million in annual revenues or balance sheet total would have to follow tougher rules, including issuing new shares to workers amounting to 2% of the company a year until employees own 20%. The same companies would have to open 45% of board seats to election by employees.
...
Buybacks: Large-scale share repurchases would be treated as stock manipulation. Workers would get first right of refusal to buy operations slated for sale or closure.

Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders want your Post Office to double as a bank
Bernie Sanders proposes a 25 percent 'House Flipping tax' in new housing plan and a 2% annual tax on vacant homes
Green New Deal.
That all sounds like a disaster. Good thing Bernie Sanders is never going to be President. He might perform the valuable service of destroying the Democrat party for the near term.
Sounds like a good start to making the USA Venezuela.
What would it mean? An Eat Your Dog Economy.
Having lived through managing a business during the ‘0bama Reign of Error’ I predict it would be 100X WORSE than the BS I had to go through. Hiring freezes, reducing hours, laying off really excellent staff. Of course, we persevered, but it was an ugly, UGLY time for us.
Mine was just a 2 million a year operation and 0bamacare alone nearly wrecked us! I can just imagine that the greedy Socialist and his crew would GUT American businesses and our economy like a FISH.
Except, of course, they’d keep THEIRS.
*SPIT*
And the only way they can even TALK about this cr@p openly is that we are America; the best thing going in the world. :(
I am pleasantly surprised he is being so open about it. Kudos to him. Despite the profligate ideas, I applaud him for his honesty, which I find refreshing.
I’d love to “Read more at WSJ,” but... paywall.
well said, Diana!
it means your 401k plan would be worthless overnight.
Short summary:
If: Bernie
Then: civil war
A real one.
Period.
All of this stuff would need to pass congress and it would never pass. Sanders for four/eight years would mean the country is dead for that timenothing would get done.
Wall Street has been supporting Democrats for decades.
I won’t be shedding a single tear when that finally comes back to bite them in the arse.
And it will.
Why should millions of people have the quality of their lives and their pursuit of their own dreams be affected in a profoundly negative way by a lazy POS who has never held a real job and who talks as though he has a mouth full of marbles?
I ask you..
This may sound like a disaster to those who understand economics. But to ‘Progressives’, this is a Great idea.
Bernie may not win, but the Revolution Is Eternal
‘Workers of the World UNITE! Create a world run by and for the working class.
Light on the democratic, heavy on the socialist.
Socialism ends up “not working” because the “right people” are quickly shouldered out of the way, and a paramilitary organization ends up running the show, because they are not afraid to use the necessary “persuasion” to assure ALL the population is on the same page, or “neutralized”.
Then pretty soon, the regime runs out of other people’s money. Having no faith in the virtues of individual initiative and compound interest, confiscation remains their only course of action. Call it taxation, call it loss of opportunity, call it just plain sadistic satisfaction, equality is achieved for all. It is just that some are more equal than others, as they DESERVE to be, for after all, are they not the shepherds to the flock?
That way, they appear to be righteous as well.

Bernie would still have his executive orders. You can cause a lot of mischief with those things.

When Wall St. Gets bit in the arse, so do I. If Bernie manages to get elected there will be a run on Wall St. the likes of which has never been seen before.
If Bernie manages to get elected there will be a run on Wall St. the likes of which has never been seen before. ............................................ That means he had inherited the last administration’s economy and that’s why he failed. Definitely a Huffpost article if it occurs.
