The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), UW Hospital and Clinics, the local health department, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have confirmed the first case of 2019 novel coronavirus in Wisconsin. The case was confirmed at the CDC. The immediate health risk to the general public for contracting this virus is low.
The patient is an adult with a history of travel to Beijing, China prior to becoming ill and was exposed to known cases while in China. The individual is isolated at home, and is doing well. Out of respect for the privacy of the patient and their household, this is the only information that is available.

What does that mean, novel?
Hmmmmmmmmmm .... I wonder when He/She returned from China ....
Just this morning local radio hosts were cheering that there were no cases in WI.
novel means new. There are hundreds (?) of Coronaviruses, but this one is the New (novel) one.
novel = new
we have been compromised, because of the lack of resolve to send the Chinese packing. This outbreak was intentionally done, although I do not believe the PRC thought they themselves would be hit so hard...IMHO.
I understand that there are 7 coronaviruses with this one being new.

Boring.
If people weren’t in a panic, this wouldn’t be news.
“novel” is part of the name of the virus now. This started about a week or ten days ago. The first few times I heard it I thought it was a description by the news reader, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Of course “novel” means new, so maybe they are trying to distinguish it from other corona viruses, even though few people had ever heard of any coronavirus before late December.
They should be strictly quarantined.
We’ve saw in the March air force base in California one of the quarantined individuals tried to leave within the original 72 hours.
We saw in Ebola, a nurse wandered around New York City instead of adhering to a volutary quarantine.
Don’t take chances. Quarantine them in a facility where they can’t get out, and they have no excuse to run to the local grocery store or fast food place.
It’s a small inconvenience for a few people that could save many many lives.
There are many more in animals, but only 7 so far that have infected humans. This one is thought to have crossed from bats to humans. There are probably many more that could infect humans were there a vector to facilitate the transfer.
“They should be strictly quarantined.”
Yes, they should be.
We put into place a list of countries from whom we will not accept people for what purpose — politics or saving lives?
Well, we have our answer. Just pray not too many unnecessary deaths result from this dereliction.
I have a dog, and I was counting the ones she gets too - who knows, someday they made cross over to humans as well
I agree.
What is a coronavirus?
ANSWER A coronavirus is a type of common virus that can infect your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. They can spread much like cold viruses. Almost everyone gets a coronavirus infection at least once in their life, most likely as a young child.
Most coronaviruses are not dangerous, but some are. Those that cause Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) or severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS ) can be deadly.

“This outbreak was intentionally done,”
I said that 2 weeks ago. Notice every area/sector/quadrant whatever you want to call it of the US has an infected case-almost as if it was planned that way.
None of the patients are doing well. Once they get identified, we never hear about them again, ever.
“The patient is an adult with a history of travel to Beijing, China prior to becoming ill and was exposed to known cases while in China.”
so,why the hell are ALL travelers arriving from China NOT being immediately quarantined for two weeks? And all the passenger airplanes from their being fumigated before reuse?
