Maryland voters in the Baltimore area are heading to the polls Tuesday to choose who will be their partys nominee to finish the rest of the late Rep. Elijah Cummings' term in Congress.
The race to fill the vacated seat is a crowded one, with 24 Democrats and eight Republicans vying for their parties nomination in the 7th Congressional District special primary. Given the heavily-Democrat makeup of the district, however, whoever wins the primary is expected to be the candidate to fill Cummings seat.
A special general election will take place on April 28 -- the same day that Maryland holds its statewide primary election in the 2020 presidential race. The candidate who wins the seat will serve out the remaining months of Cummings' term, while candidates who want to seek the seat after that had until Jan. 24 to file for the April 28 primary.
**SNIP**
The race to fill the seat has become something of a family battle as two of Cummings daughters have thrown their support behind Harry Spikes, a former staffer for Cummings -- despite Cummings second wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, also running.
My sister and I are supporting Harry Spikes for Congress because for the past 15 years hes worked alongside our father to meet the needs of the people of the [Maryland] 7th Congressional District, Jennifer Cummings said in a letter obtained by The Washington Post in November.

the way iowa is playing out i wouldn’t count on it...
Just another commie will fill that seat.
I don’t miss him.
Is that bad?
Don’t tell Pete Buttigieg that. I understand he would love to fill someone’s seat...
From what I see, 24 RATS are listed - 8 GOP. Whew! This could take awhile. Results -
Nope. Enough time has passed.

7 months of “gettin” before the fall election.
MD ping!
I predict Queezy Fumey will win.
We have no chance, but we all voted anyway. Probably just me and my husband voted for 1 candidate and my mom for 1 other! LOL
Ooo, the lady who sent out postcards first is well in the lead!
I like the black ladies here, but we found out today (they gave us no real warning the election would be today) that the leader and the 2nd right now are carpetbaggers. Liz apparently really wants to be a politician badly, as she has even recently tried to run for various seats in various districts! She does not live here (and leader Kim lives even further out from this weird district than Liz).
I did really like Liz’s comprehensive discussion of her views and platform. So ultimately we voted for her.
Looks like Queezy is way up. Rockeymoore now has to go get a real job.
Kweisi Mfume’s real name is Frizzell Gray. He fathered at least five children that we know of by four different women. Sort of like common law polygamy.
Funny how she didnt seem to take his name, but now that the race is on, she adopted it.
You should see the signs around here.

CUMMINGS
LOL
Sired. He sired 5 kids.
Father is a different thing.
#3. Should read as the 3Cs for Maryland Democrats - Crazy, Crooked, Communist. The Soviet’s had Rep. Parren Mitchell (D-Md) as their “Transfer Amendement” disarmament proponent in the House and he had a suspicious tie to identified Soviet spy Victor Perlo during a Jt. House Senate Hearing on Economic policies. See www.keywiki.org, search under “Parren Mitchell” - the information should be there (what little of it there was).
I tangled with Mitchell at a public forum and he was a hardcore communist sympathizer, esp. re the Viet Cong. Nasty piece of work.
Oh, by the way, just FYI, a post-retirement party was given to Mitchell when he left Congress and as I recall, some of the sponsors (who may have bought tickets or made donations to it) include (Sen) Ben Cardin, Barbara Mikulski and possibly Steny Hoyer. I have to find my poor copy of that flier because it has not been found elsewhere so far.
Interestingly the sponsoring group for this affair “Tribute to Honor Parren Mitchell” or something like that, was headed by Les Bayless, the chairman of the Communist Party of Baltimore/Maryland. Surprise, surprise.
Yep - his favorite pickup line was, “May I push your stool in for you?”
