Sen. Collins will vote to acquit Trump on both impeachment articles

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, seen as a possible swing vote in President Trump’s impeachment trial, announced on the Senate floor Tuesday that she will not vote to remove the president.

“This decision is not about whether you like or dislike this president or agree with or oppose his policies or approve or disapprove of his conduct in other circumstances,” Collins said. “Rather, it is about whether the charges meet the very high constitutional standard of treason, bribery or other high crimes or misdemeanors.”

It’s likely he will vote to acquit too.

At this point, he gains nothing.

If the Rats had an ounce of integrity and scruples, they would all vote to acquit and send a message to the idiots in the House that this will not be tolerated. But then, if they any integrity or scruples, every Rat senator who was or is running for the presidency would have recused themselves.

Have any Dems crossed over yet?

Manchin or Sinema?

You know Schmuckie is working them hard to keep it from being a bi-partisan acquittal

Seems a purely politically calculated move. The democrats weren’t going to get anywhere near the 2/3 to remove and they all know it. So vote on the winning side. Had it been close she would have been seeking payment from both sides for her vote.

Democrats have lost the RINOs. A devastating setback for them. They don’t even have the talking point a majority of the Senate voted to convict President Trump and remove him from office.

Sucks to be them.

Manchin, Jones and Sinema. They won’t acquit. This is going to be strictly along party lines.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Manchin and Sinema don’t vote to acquit..haven’t really heard much from Sinema but so far she hasn’t been the left wing crazy duck I expected her to be

Senator Collins gave a good speech and explained it well.

Senator Langford spoke a minute ago.

He nailed it. Short, sweet and to the point. Very impressive.

If Trump brings up the shampeachment tonight, I would not be surprised if some gutless RINOs use it to vote to convict.

RINOs cannot be trusted.

Here’s my bold prediction:

It will be 56-44 for acquittal with NO Republicans voting to remove and 3 Democrats crossing the party line to vote acquittal as well.

The 3 Democrats will all be from red states: Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona.

I’m not surprised she’s voting conservative. She may be one of the few smart ones that are not publicly tipping their hand about being in the deep state. And I’m sure she can imagine the bloodbath that’s going to happen at the ballot box when Trump is acquitted and the fools are culled in the media and their own jurisdictions. The only thing better for this would have been if the trial would have gone on and the liberals would have been slow roasted right up to the general election. The GOP may have missed their opportunity to put the libs back at least 10 years, ruin the integrity and reputation of the current leaders in power in the house, and take over both houses and the POTUS this year forcing them to totally rebuild the liberal party to have some type of rapport with anyone from their smallest base to foreign concerns. Shucks, the chance was there and they got scared and ran for it.

But if they don’t get the trial, they win. They can save face not with legal actions, but with lying about how the GOP closed them out in the senate not giving a fair trial and the public will have to listen to that clear through next year. And they accomplished heir goal of dirtying the water for the election. It’s all this was ever about.

“I’m guessing [Romney] will swallow big and vote no.”

In the same way We The People had to hold our noses and vote Yes for him to be President.

*SHUDDER*

How’s THAT feel, ya Poser! (Romney, not you!)
