The Wuhan coronavirus spreading from China is now likely to become a pandemic that circles the globe, according to many of the worlds leading infectious disease experts.
The prospect is daunting. A pandemic an ongoing epidemic on two or more continents may well have global consequences, despite the extraordinary travel restrictions and quarantines now imposed by China and other countries, including the United States.
Scientists do not yet know how lethal the new coronavirus is, however, so there is uncertainty about how much damage a pandemic might cause. But there is growing consensus that the pathogen is readily transmitted between humans.
The Wuhan coronavirus is spreading more like influenza, which is highly transmissible, than like its slow-moving viral cousins, SARS and MERS, scientists have found...

Government health agency official: Coronavirus 'isn't something the American public need to worry I about'
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said Sunday the American public shouldnt worry about the coronavirus outbreak in China.
Its a very, very low risk to the United States, Fauci said during an interview with radio show host John Catsimatidis.
But its something that we as public health officials need to take very seriously... It isnt something the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about. ...
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Looking like it escaped a lab in China. Were they working on a vaccine or a weapon?
We may never know.
China also didn’t initially see a problem. In fact, Pandemics are NEVER a problem...when they start.
Daily mail has white guy who got it two momths ago. Used hot toddy to cure it. Interesting article if anyone wants to link it
Would the USA see it as a problem if it started here?
This is pure “bring out your dead” BOYD).
“Would the USA see it as a problem if it started here?”
As they say in warfare, you always fight your last war. Here they’re still fighting Ebola, so they’re unable to consider that transmission of this bug is far, far easier.
At this point, there shouldn’t be ANY flights between here and Asia...but they continue, with only disruption to the flights directly to/from China.
If it started here, democrats would ensure it would have its own civil rights and anyone avoiding it was a germophobe. We would all be dead in a month.
“If it started here, democrats would ensure it would have its own civil rights and anyone avoiding it was a germophobe. We would all be dead in a month.”
But we’re also moving far too slowly. The time for quarantines and cutting off China was 3 weeks ago, and at this point, there shouldn’t even be any flights from Asia. I’m afraid that Trump is listening to Deep State ‘experts’ who want to destroy his re-election chances, and for them, if it takes a pandemic in the US to do it, so be it.

Time to remember the Spanish flu. It wasn’t awfully long time ago. Wiped out as much as one in five in some countries.
I’m not the least worried about this as I am the flu....spoke with a friend out in Eastern Pa. tonight. She said there’s two strains of it where she lives and a lot of people are sick for three weeks really bad.....and then some come down a second time with the other strain.
First you invent the bioweapon, then you invent the vaccine for it.
Please link it.
As one who lost a Grandfather and two Granduncles to the Spanish Flu..., I would only point out that it's occurrence was prior to the advent of antibiotics.
Dont know if i believe this hot toddy beat
Beat the virus guy..but i do a shot of whiskey..OJ
.and manuka honey when i have been out like tonight at a super bowl event to ward of sickness
Thus far almost all the people who have contracted this virus and become ill are Asiatics. Population genetics is of critical importance in determining the virulence of a pathogen in a given area. There are many Westerners who live and work in Wusan. Have any of them become ill?
BTW this is a very politically incorrect question to ask or research. It could cost epidemiologists their funding and jobs.
Cant.. someone else will have to
Youre on track to change that false positive rate. And you certainly didnt miss the beginning.
I really appreciate you hard work and relentless energy keeping up with developments. Many thanks, Nully.
