President Trump said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he thinks Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is a communist.
Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Trump in an interview that aired prior to Super Bowl LIV for quick reactions to a number of Democratic presidential candidates, including Sanders.
"I think he’s a communist. I mean, you know, look, I think of communism when I think of Bernie," Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity.
"Now, you could say socialist, but didn’t he get married in Moscow?" Trump added, with Hannity interjecting to note Sanders went to the former Soviet Union on his honeymoon.
"I think of Bernie sort of as a socialist but far beyond a socialist," Trump continued. "At least he’s true to what he believes."
Trump's comments were broadcast a day before the Iowa caucuses. Sanders, who identifies as a democratic socialist, has been leading in the most recent polls in the state.
The president and his campaign last month started focusing additional attention on Sanders, who has consistently been among the best-performing candidates in polls alongside former Vice President Joe Biden.

I know a few folks who have visited Russia and liked it, but it wasnt the Russia of the 1980s liken when Sanders went there. Maybe someone could ask Bernie what he thinks of Robin Williams great flick, Moscow on the Hudson and its depiction of Russia.

I HATE communists with a passion. America as a whole used to and now half America loves that sh*t.
This puts Bernie on the defensive. Some reporter inevitably will ask Bernie about it. He will either have to confirm it, or deny it. If he denies, he will have to somehow differentiate socialists and communists. Should be interesting theater.
The DNC and the CPUSA merged during the Kenaynesian Usurpation.

Smart move. The D’s are so reflexively anti-Trump this is going to help Bernie in Iowa. Trump is doing to Sanders in the D primary what Pope Francis did to Trump in the SC R primary in 2016. No one can claim Trump is not a quick study.
Once again, President Trump fires a seemingly harmless shot that forces the Dems and the media (but I repeat myself) to defend the indefensible.
Will the media split hairs over socialism versus communism or will they fiercely defend Comrade Bernie against all insults? Either way they lose and all Trump did was tell the plain truth. Brilliant!
