Chinese scientist working on coronavirus claims pets can catch infection
Newsweek ^ | 1-30-20

Pets can catch the mysterious new virus that has already killed almost 200 people, according to a Chinese expert who has urged people to monitor their domesticated animals.

Li Lanjuan, an epidemiologist and member of the team China has assembled to confront the new coronavirus, claimed the bug, dubbed 2019-nCoV, can be transmitted from mammal to mammal. She did not say if there had been cases of infected pets.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously stated there is no evidence that pets, like dogs or cats, can be infected with the virus. It's not clear if 2019-nCoV "has any impact on the health of animals and no particular event has been reported in any species," the agency said. Newsweek has contacted China's National Health Commission for comment.

Lanjuan told China Central Television, according to a translation by China Daily: "If pets go out and have contact with an infected person, they have the chance to get infected. By then, pets need to be isolated. In addition to people, we should be careful with other mammals especially pets."

“Could they hide that?”

I seriously doubt a death toll like that could be hidden. They don’t have cremation facilities or storage facilities for that many bodies.

That said, 10K I would believe. My niece is a nurse in Wuhan. She says it is worse than is being reported.

A big win for vegans, or not. Ever seen a cattle lot or slaughter house? Same with chickens. But then cooking kills the virus and vegans will be munching down on their hand picked arugula.

Yes, heard from several sources the crematoriums are running full blast. You wouldn’t want to set up grandma’s wake in the living room.

Don’t know if they’re returning the ashes to families.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

Prayers up for your niece!

Are the vids we’re seeing, from the Wuhan hospitals, legitimate?

Oh great. They are going to use this to end cash, end pets and end false rumors. Go Deep State. Go. Make the world a safer place. If pets can get it, all mammals can get it. Not buying this.

Your niece is very brave. I was hoping when the PLA sent in all those medical staff that the folks at Wuhan would get a vacation. even if in quarantine. They deserve it.

I’m going to transcribe something from a video that seems real but I don’t know the names so maybe it’s made up? Can you maybe help dispel or confirm?

“According to the new rule, all roads in the Huanggang municipal area will be closed midnight Jan 31, with physical barriers and checkpoints. No vehicles can use the road...only a certain number of taxis will be allocated to each neighborhood. This was confirmed by Hubei governor Wang, who said at a Jan 29 press conference that the number of confirmed cases is increasing in Huanggang, and three other nearby cities, Xiaogang, Jingmen, and Xianning. He was worried that Huanggang would become another “Wuhan”...on Friday the mayor of Huangang said there will be a significant increase in confirmed novelcoronavirus infection cases on Saturday and Sunday in the city as some 600-700 thousand people returned from Wuhan to Huangang before the Wuhan lockdown. And at a Jan 30 press conference Zhang Wendong, leader of the outbreak response team in Shanghai, said: “Based on the current situation, this coronavirus will spread more broadly. I’m responsible for my own words and I can tell you the estimation of overseas experts are correct,” he said, without naming the experts he was referring to.”

there’s more to the video, but that’s the question I wanted to pull out is - how accurate does this sound? Could Huanggang also go on full quarantine? Has anyone said the ‘holiday’ will be extended again to Feb 13th?

There was a video a few days ago showing the smoke. The guy said it’s usually the smog but the industries were shut down so it’s now the crematorium smoke. Who knows what it really is.

Yes they ave a travel ban in place. If you don’t have to be out then you should stay home. If there was major out brake in the US the same thing would happen. Just like all air travel was grounded on 9/11/2001

"Crematorium? Oh no, that's an ore-processing facility. It's supposed to burn 24/7. And the body bags? We, umm, ran out of wheelbarrows to carry the ore in."

I’m not sure about the crematorium smoke thing. I did watch a video that looked like smoke, but then a mail-trucklooking thing spewing ‘smoke’ drove into frame - but it was disinfectant, like the old mosquito-spray trucks that used to come thru the neighborhoods. Not sure how effective wholesale spraying into opean air is on virus vs. mosquitos, tho; I’d worry It’d make the virus more resistant to whatever they’re using because the dilution would be so low, as opposed to targeted spraying and 4min wet surfaces. I don’t know if they’re doing it every day tho just saw the one video.
