Pets can catch the mysterious new virus that has already killed almost 200 people, according to a Chinese expert who has urged people to monitor their domesticated animals.
Li Lanjuan, an epidemiologist and member of the team China has assembled to confront the new coronavirus, claimed the bug, dubbed 2019-nCoV, can be transmitted from mammal to mammal. She did not say if there had been cases of infected pets.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously stated there is no evidence that pets, like dogs or cats, can be infected with the virus. It's not clear if 2019-nCoV "has any impact on the health of animals and no particular event has been reported in any species," the agency said. Newsweek has contacted China's National Health Commission for comment.
Lanjuan told China Central Television, according to a translation by China Daily: "If pets go out and have contact with an infected person, they have the chance to get infected. By then, pets need to be isolated. In addition to people, we should be careful with other mammals especially pets."

If virus particles are airborne, they could get into the pet’s coat when they are outdoors, the owner touches the pet, then it’s on the human. Of course dogs tend to sniff surfaces (or other dog butts) and then give their humans kisses...

My in laws say the same.
They are thankfully retired, and stopped using cash altogether. Most people use WeChat to pay for everything, but older Chinese still use paper money.
I can’t imagine being in Hubei province at all now - and no one wants them to leave, all are afraid of them.

I would welcome a bit of clarity. Seems like people trying to jerk me around on all sides.
Those pets people worship and treat better than people are very important. Make sure you keep them with you.

Viruses tend to be pretty host specific unless they have been modified intentionally. For instance, there is a dog coronavirus that your dog can be vaccinated against in the puppy combo vaccine. It is not contagious to cats or humans as a natural virus.

thats what I got from the drs....chineese here are afraid to talk public..about it....at the least...we are looking a a total collaps of the 2nd largest market in the world...probly the chinese gov...as well...at least this form of it...all produsts could carry the germ...from one mo. ago into the future?.....imo our market will Lose every thing with production in china....we should go cashless today...and Stop all traffic....2 wks ago.imo
