The Wuhan coronavirus seems to have a low fatality rate, and most patients make full recoveries. Experts reveal why it's causing panic anyway.

The outbreak of a new coronavirus has sparked fear and anxiety around the world.

The pneumonialike virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has infected more than 9,700 people and killed 213.

So far, the virus does not seem to be as deadly as SARS, which killed 774 people from 2002 to 2003. SARS had a mortality rate of 9.6%, whereas about 2% of people infected with the new coronavirus have died. But the number of people infected after one month has already surpassed the SARS outbreak's eight-month total

Many patients with coronavirus have already made full recoveries. According to Chinese officials, most of those who've died were elderly or had other ailments that compromised their immune systems. Public-health experts say that for the most part, panic over the Wuhan coronavirus outside of China is unproductive and unwarranted. The public should take precautions to avoid getting sick, but the most effective preventative measures are everyday actions like increased handwashing and not touching your face.

Amira Roess, a professor of global health and epidemiology at George Mason University, told Business Insider that fear would not stop the spread of the virus and could cause negative social impacts.

One thing we can be sure of.. China is lying about the origin and stats. If it’s bio warfare, they probably intended to release it on their way through our open borders.

doesn’t the flu and pneumonia actually kill more than this virus annually each and every year - is this just hip to fill the media void after impeach?

Given that this virus hasn’t been prominent for a year, that’s kind of an odd comparison. Heck, the vast majority appear to still be in the initial infection process.

The chicoms going batshit is what caught my notice last week.

Well, they'll do so a few hours after eating this, anyway...

What happened to them.

same as in 1989. dead - bodies burned to ash, ash flushed down the sewers. Low fatalities created - see how easy it is?

” most of those who’ve died were elderly or had other ailments that compromised their immune systems.”

No surprise there.

As long as you are willing to believe the Chinese Communist Party ... be happy don’t worry ‘cause the CCP is as truthful as the day is long

Don’t you find it odd with millions in quarantine and the number of infected rising as are the deaths, that the CCP has paraded only ONE recovered patient?

they would be absolutely destroying themselves in the process.

They know something we do not, and they aren’t telling which is why 100 million are now in quarantine, 5 % of their economy is destroyed with more falling as the quarantine grows. the PLA controls the cities, and only 1 (ONE) recovered patient displayed ...

Not sure you are replying to me - I surmised that since only one patient has been shown as recovered, the vast majority of dead have been cremated and the ashed disposed of in the sewers as they did in 1989 to cover up the actual number of dead.

Except early reports were the flu effected mostly young and healthy, not the old and weak. But, just believe those figures coming out of the Chinese Communist Party controlled information outlets and news organs, ‘cause they only tell the unvarnished truth.

The young and healthy were the first to get it because they were the ones out in public being exposed to it. The elderly and immuno compromised were back at home or not in public specifically because of the dangers of being in large crowds.
