Democrats signaled in the runup to the looming conclusion of President Trump's impeachment proceedings that they'll simply refuse to accept his all-but-certain acquittal because his "sham" trial lacked proper witnesses and evidence.
Signaling how they will message the saga in the coming months on the campaign trail, top Democratic leaders in the House and Senate argued Trump can never erase the stain of impeachment because the trial wasn’t legitimate.
"The president's acquittal will be meaningless," Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., declared Friday, "because it will be the result of a sham trial. If there are no witnesses, no documents in this trial, there will be a permanent asterisk next to the acquittal of President Trump written in permanent ink."
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif. said Republicans may get what they want -- a speedy end to the trial -- but it won't have any value.

Makes me wonder how it will be when Trump wins 45 states in the November election, and if the story will be that the Russians helped to facilitate the corrupted election.
You know, we need to go and hire up a fake Russian general comedian, and have him tour the country with some fake Russian blonde gals....pretending to be here on a secret mission to fake the election. At campaign stops....let him hand out shots of cheap vodka.

They keep using the words “trial” and “fair trial.”
Then they complain that, when they had 18 witnesses (one discarded because he was a problem—Atkinson) while the President had none, and no lawyers present, either, that they need more. Maybe they’d trade a couple—which would make it 20 to 2.
But that’s not all that goes into what’s normally thought of as a trial. There’s the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. None of those were followed in the House, and they haven’t been followed in the Senate. A trial with or without witnesses that doesn’t follow the established rules for evidence and procedure isn’t a fair trial, it’s a political show trial.
Ok, Chuckie. And Trump’s re-election will be meaningless.....

Just like they simply refused to accept the 2016 election with the Electoral College landslide.
The impeachment wasn’t legit so we can play that game.
