The thousands of people who descended upon the Jersey Shore town for President Donald Trump's 'Keep America Great' rally at the Wildwoods Convention Center left behind a sea of trash in the parking lot including their abandoned beach chairs and blankets after the rally wrapped up.
Rally-goers were allowed to bring chairs as they waited in line some for up to 48 hours before the event but they weren't allowed to bring them inside the venue.
Factor in the blankets they used to stay warm, and all their drinks and food they were snacking on during the long wait in the parking lot and the convention center ends up with a parking lot full of trash to deal with Wednesday morning.

Thanks for sharing your firsthand experience there. Hope others see your post.
BTW the wind coming off the Atlantic Ocean in January in New Jersey, is brutally cold and raw.
Yes, indeed. Anyone who waited there in the cold wasn't there just for fun.
Right - it seems to be a logistical/planning problem, not the folks’ fault.
Provide a way to dispose of things or retrieve them later - if you don’t provide either, this is the expected outcome.
What would a typical campground look like if few or no trash cans were provided?
As someone mentioned upthread, it’s too bad the Trump advance team doesn’t have a better solution.
Excellent point: When the people were allowed to cleanup, they did.
From the article, Fox Park where they had the jumbotron was clean in the morning.
The problem was in the parking lot.
cleaning the park was the responsibility of the city, cleaning the parking lot is the responsibility of the convention center.
something isn’t consistent here. Explanations?
From the article
Fox Park was SPOTTLESS WEDNESSDAY MORNING.
Good idea.
The Wildwood mayor (D) already was complaining about the rally before it started, and he wasn't invited to it. So, of course, he ran to the media to complain about trash (that was cleaned up soon afterward).
Ditto. I can remember a rally near the Washington Monument and we were picking up everything we could find -— even cigarette butts. A policeman said the place never looked so clean!!
People who say Joisey are from Brooklyn.
Since bombs were hidden in trash cans in a previous terror attempt, none were permitted to be at the site. Next time bring lots of oversized empty trash bags, to keep the mess neat.
Ref: #89. Trash cans hid bombs at a prior Jersey event, an attempted terror attack
Did anyone think that, just maybe, the mess is anticipated?
And Contractors are hired by the Trump Team to clean up in the morning.
lol, christie will never live that one down.
I still think Ocean City NJ is really nice as well (though I haven’t vacationed at the shore since Hurricane Sandy); a nice dry town, great for kids. Seven Presidents Beach is a great place for a day trip; very clean.
IMO, the distinction doesn’t make much difference to me. If I had to leave it out there to go inside, I would have just retrieved it when I came out.
But then again, I do have a thing about littering. Perhaps it is true that many people wouldn’t do that.
Anyway, I think it is illustrative that the Left has expended some time and print space to highlighting this, so...it just reinforces that this is something they are always guilty of, being as good at projection as they are.
+. Looks like poor planning.
"...I would have just retrieved it when I came out..."
More people need to understand this
Cannot seem to grasp? How so? You make it sound as if the point was covered again and again, and people just "cannot seem to grasp" it, that attendees were not permitted to return to the 'secured area'.
That is not only not mentioned in the linked article, it was not mentioned in a single post that I have seen on this thread. How is it that Freepers 'cannot seem to grasp" it, when it has not been mentioned?
Anyone who has ever been to any kind of event inside a venue knows that you cannot bring chairs and such into the venue. I have never been to ANY event be it concert or rally, where you were allowed to bring chairs, blankets, umbrellas, etc. in.
So unless these people have never been to any public event inside a venue and were innocently unaware this was an issue, there are only two choices: They brought chairs and blankets with them as disposable items they intended to leave there for someone else to clean up, or they were ignorant of that simple universal fact that you won't be allowed to bring anything into the building and were surprised by it.
In the first instance that makes them slobs, and in the second instance I presume that was split three ways between people who were slobs, people who were innocently ignorant, and people who thought they might be able to leave and return their belongings to a vehicle, or retrieve them afterwards.
In any case, no matter how it is presented, it is not a flattering portrait, especially when a key conservative tenet is personal responsibility. That is done and cannot be undone.
On the positive side, I am pretty sure that at any rallies going forward, organizers will have this in mind and we won't see a repeat of this.
By the way, I am willing to concede that there were a larger number of people going to this who may not have much experience in going to concerts or gatherings that have these kinds of restrictions.
In any case, I don’t expect we will see a repeat of this occurrence.
"...How so?..."
