There are currently 9,171 confirmed cases worldwide, including 213 fatalities.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
15,328 suspected cases up from 12,167 suspected cases yesterday
102,000 being observed!!
I am sure they lost track of cured days ago.
Where is the guy in bed 14?
I dont know, I saw him in there with his son.
Nurse turns to the computer. Marks the guy cured. And the bed cleaned.
Go get another one out of the hallway.

My 'levity' post for this thread.
For the 2017-2018 flu season, the CDC estimated that 45MM people got the flu ("Symptomatic Illnesses"), 21MM sought tratement, 810k were hospitalized, and 61k died.
Thus, for that season, and assuming 330MM people in America,
-the raw mortality rate was 0.018% or 18.48 people per 100,000
-the likelihood of contracting the flu was 13.6% (45MM/330MM)
-the Case Fatality Rate was 0.14% (if you define a "case" as having Symptomatic Illness) or 0.29% (where "case"=seeking treatment) or 7.5% ("case"=hospitalization)
2 social credit scores have been deposited into your account. CN
*snork*.
I love the german almagationwords.
I was going to say...how do you do contact tracing on a hundred thousand people.
Then I remembered the 24/7 tracing/tracking/ID cameras and monitoring and social credit system and voila...there you go.
I hope they (ptb’s) don’t use this as a reason to do the same thing to us.
Is there any reason to put much stock in the chart?
I don’t think you can compare the two yet. The early cases the Chi’s were still stumbling around. From the video below, it seems saline drip IVs were started - isn’t that a huge no-no for Acute Respiratory Distress? Aren’t you drowning the patient doing that? So I’d wait a week and look at data from more advanced medical thinking - like the patients in the US or Japan.
IVs in use:

WHO issued a World Wide Alarm today on the virus .
Read the DM .
Its past time .
WHO was dragging its feet .
Not any more .

No, just ignore it.
Yep, and then more than half of that 40,000 traveled back home.
China drug it’s feet, then WHO drug it’s feet.
I’d say we’re 5 to 10 fays behind where our response should be.
Still.
ONE new case a day does not demand much of a response.
later
WHO was slow .
What are waiting for .?
I think I told someone yesterday if they close down flights in and out, we might find ourselves in a pretty quick recession. Although most cargo is shippedand that length of time would kill the virus.
