There are currently 9,171 confirmed cases worldwide, including 213 fatalities.
Hmmm, can’t remember link now.
If confirmed, BNO will have it.
The normal flu is something like 10% of that number.
And remember, cases means tested. Much like the US, most people havent been hospitalized or tested. To compare to the US flu, 35 million got it last year. Just under half a million were hospitalized. 32,200 died.
What we are missing is an all deaths for the area. Without that, you wont be able to gauge the unrecorded or incidental deaths caused by not being able to get to the hospital.
Italy just confirmed 2.
IIRC that’s how the arrived at a death toll for the 1918 flu. Looked at ‘excess deaths’ year over year.
not sure if this is from the current events..but it’s a cool little parade in Japan and they arent worrying about the virus

290 Critical Condition
804 Severe Condition
The number of people in serious and critical condition in Hubei province alone has risen to 1,094, up from 988 yesterday. Nationwide, at least 1,476 people in serious/critical condition
106 more in serious or worse condition
but 1120 new cases . 9.4% ratio new
overall 1094/5806 18.8% of total patients in serious or worse
so todays number is well off the overall average...so either
1)more people are improving in the hospital (ie serious to fair)
2) they are now testing the more mild cases
I hope #1
Next you get a spanking.
On that page:
TOTAL 9,042
Died 213
1,370 serious
124 recovered
12,167 suspected

The recovered vs. the dead numbers as percents is concerning - am I looking at that right?
Nope. Not going there. Can’t make me. Wouldn’t be prudent.
Even with China’s BS numbers, their death rate is sill larger than recovery rate.
Re: rate of spread
Did anyone know that Wuhan had their annual food festival on Jan 20th just before quarantine? I didn’t. I think it’s called the feast of 10,000 and 40K are said to have attended this year. It’s supposed to be huge, with many booths.
Here’s a video from 2016:

and a newspaper mention (AP):
Top city officials attended a Lunar New Year gala last week where performers were sniffling and sneezing, and thousands of people shared a community feast the same day the National Health Commission came to investigate a new viral outbreak.

Yes....i think they were trying to set some sort of record for the largest dinner gathering or something
I suspect it’ll be a week-10 days before a clear picture of the US survival rate is known. Not many people infected here - so far.
” To compare to the US flu, 35 million got it last year.”
Do you know off-hand if that refers to people who presented for treatment, or an informed estimate?
Not sure it matters m,uch, so just if you know off-hand. Thanks.
1) This Virus's MO is a viral pneumonia (and will potentially kill more) - that is NOT TYPICAL in the so called 'normal flu';
2) There is NO VACCINE for this virus - everyone in the world has the potential to catch this.
Let's say only 1% of the world's population died from this, that would be like 80 million people - many magnitudes larger than die from 'normal Flu'
If you combine suspected and total confirmed we are over 21k.
Superbowl is bigger.
What strikes me is that 46 percent of the Chinese cases are outside of Hubei province, but only a handful of the deaths are (about 4 percent). It may very likely because of the level of care is higher and more successful with fewer patients to treat.
I wonder if the Monte Carlo chart is todays date or Chinas date.
