Netflix’s ‘The Ranch’ Goes Gun Control: ‘Sick of People Saying They Need an Assault Weapon’

The Netflix sitcom The Ranch was once called a “conservative” sitcom, but as it ends its run this month, the series has veered left with an anti-gun message among other virtue signaling fare.

When it debuted in 2016, the streaming sitcom starring Ashton Kutcher and Sam Elliott brought reviewers to note that swipes at Barack Obama, support for guns and hunting, love of tractors and cars, and criticism of global warming, made it more conservative than most TV shows.

“Me. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of people saying they need an assault weapon to defend themselves, and I’m sick of turning on the TV and seeing another mass shooting. Beau, why aren’t you f**king sick of it?” Winger’s Maggie replies.

Once Danny Masterson left the show it went downhill. I stopped watching a while ago.

“I’m sick of people saying they need an assault weapon to defend themselves,”

I’m sick of my government allowing criminals into our country and at the same time trying to disarm us.

Makes sense they’d use their last breaths to push gun control. They got an audience with conservatives. Why not exploit it for their own purposes as they are closing shop anyway?

I canceled Netflix. Too many streaming options, which is good, competition is always good but I wasn’t really getting much out of it anymore. Also a lot of their available catalog is being pulled back by the content owners to use with their own streaming service.

Hulu and Prime are my primary large steaming sources.

The Second Amendment for the uninformed:

"A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.” – George Washington

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms…What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.” – Thomas Jefferson

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them.” – George Mason, Virginia Convention to Ratify the U.S. Constitution, 1788

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." –Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759

The shocking fact is: Our government was designed to serve the people, not the other way around. 2nd amendment ensures this order. Nothing good has ever come from a government disarming its citizens. If they want to take your guns, it's most likely because they are planning on doing something to you, that you would shoot them for.

(And this is without even going into the alleged massive corruption of the democrat party, and politicians in general.)

Then again, for those up to no good, it makes perfect sense that they want everyone unable to defend themselves. They don't need anyone to get in the way of their dirty deeds. How else are they supposed to keep lining their own pockets at the people's expense?

Anyway, too bad this show went woke. "Go woke. Go broke." -as the saying says.

“I’m sick of people saying they need an assault weapon to defend themselves,”

Well, maybe if people like you and the people you elect stopped trying to limit a basic, long-respected and -established Constitutional right, most gun owners would just buy handguns, bolt-action rifles, .22s and shotguns. But NOOOOOOO, you have to have Red Flag laws, waiting periods (like there’s one of those for the 1st Amendment), constant and increasing restrictions on firearms, the outlawing (unless you pay big fees and go through the 3rd degree) of a simple item of safety and convenience (sound suppressors), etc., etc. - PLUS the demonization of everyone who owns a firearm or wants one. THAT, you blithering idiot and proto-tyrant, is how you get magazine-fed semi-auto rifles to be the single best selling item among gun owners.

Try a big cup of STFU and leave us alone, and demand for those guns you don’t like will drop.

Is there a waiting period for the abortion “right” ? I believe there is in some locations. Let me look at the BoR again.

Should have just anwered :

As long as the enforcement organs of government have them, the intent of the 2nd Amendment urges us to have them.

So what is an “assault weapon?” The mean and nasty looking AR15 is no different than a regular wood-stock .223 calibre hunting rifle. Shoots the same bullet, can hold as many rounds, but the AR15 looks mean and nasty and the counterpart looks simply like a hunting rifle. AR does not stand for “assault rifle.”

They waited to the last season to do this so it won’t matter the pushback.

I gave up on it last season, too. Just wasn’t funny or entertaining.

Legends of Tomorrow lost me when it got queeritis.

Hallmark’s gonna lose a lots of viewers from queeritis, too.

Been binge-watching Merlin...just waiting for young Merlin and King Arthur to lock lips. I hope it doesn’t go there.

“So what is an “assault weapon?”

The term morphed from ‘assault rifle’, which originated with the German StG 44 (abbreviation of Sturmgewehr 44, “assault rifle 44”), a selective-fire (semi-auto or full auto) rifle developed during World War II.

A semi-auto only rifle (i.e. AR15, many hunting rifles) should not be called an ‘assault rifle’ nor an ‘assault weapon’.

Leftists, teachers and MSM minions are very good at manipulating and re-defining word meanings.

I saw a few episodes and it was a lousy show. Nevermind these latest episodes. Just not funny or entertaining. A rapist owns part of the show. An actor named Danny Masterson who was on “That ‘70s Show”. Also a Scientologist. Also has Sam Elliott who has a tiny head on a long neck. Looks goofy.

Nothing new. HAWAII 5-0 did it forty eight years ago as did STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO, QUINCY,M.E., ALL IN THE FAMILY and many other shows at the time.

Back then, it was HANDGUNS that were super bad. Rifles were A-OK!

No new transferrable weapons since 1986.

...and that my friends is an unforgiveable assault on your liberty and mine. The passage of the McLure-Volkmer Firearms Owners Protection Act with the attached machine gun ban “became the first ever national ban upon personal firearms”. “That law obliterates whatever is left of the second amendment”. Quotes are from Neal Knox.

For those who would take issue with the law being a ban. You shoudn’t. It is in every way a ban and you are now as underarmed as the rest of us. Neal goes on to say the law makes a mockery of the presumtion that a law must address a social ill. In his opinion the law’s only purpose was to satisfy the visceral urges of Congressmen to ban something they didn’t like.

I think I would catergorize it in the same arena as Roe V Wade. Now the question, when does it come back to bite, in either case.
