LONDON - The BBC said on Wednesday it will cut around 450 jobs from its news division as part of an 80 million pound savings drive and modernisation programme.
The corporation said it would reorganise its newsroom along a story-led model where staff will be assigned to stories and not attached to individual programmes.
We need to reshape BBC News for the next decade in a way which saves substantial amounts of money, said Fran Unsworth, Director of News and Current Affairs. We are spending too much of our resources on traditional linear broadcasting.

BWAHH HAH HAH HAH I love it when leftist Fake News liars in any country lose their phoney baloney jobs.
News isn’t news anymore. No one does journalism, let alone investigative journalism.
They outsource their content to information feeds, press releases, and propaganda sources.
It’s a downward spiral. The more crap and lack of journalism they provide, the less trusted they are. The less trusted they are and the more that they lose steady consumption, the less money they make, and the more they cut staff and generate less original and self-sourced content.

I think they can sense that pressure is being ramped up....revenue will be lessened and the BBC machine might be cut in half.
If one of these news organizations went back to reporting news rather than promoting Left Wing Activism, I suspect they would be unique and have a product people might want.
I’m sure the news readers with the goofy accents will be the last to go.
What is the name of the last guy left to write the fake news?
Will they Fire or Keep the Twits ? LOL
Considering theyre a public funded entity with mandatory TV tax - I find it odd theyre losing money
True, very true. All they need to do is STOP repeating their brethern in the NYLAWAPostTimes and ABCNNBCBS, and “Just report all the news” .
Then again, as the old joke goes, “What do you call 450 fired journalists? A good start.”

Monty Python:
Cut to a newsreader in a ‘News at Nine’ set with a bare light bulb hanging in shot. He wears only an old blanket around his shoulders. He is shivering.
Newsreader The BBC wishes to deny rumours that it is going into liquidation. Mrs Kelly, who owns the flat where they live, has said that they can stay on till the end of the month ... (he is handed a piece of paper) and we’ve just heard that Huw Weldon’s watch has been accepted by the London Electricity Board and transmissions for this evening can be continued as planned. (he coughs and pulls the blanket tighter round his shoulders) That’s all from me so... goodnight.
Knocking on the door.
Mr Kelly’s Voice Are you going to be in there all night?
Newsreader It’s just a bulletin, Mr Kelly... and now back to the Story (banging)... All right!
If we could only cut NPR.
BBC wont have Harry and Meghan to kick around anymore.
most news these days are “news releases”, not written by the “journalists”.
News can’t even copy or edit these right.
It does create a vacuum for good reporting. But we are so used to free news, it is hard to make a profitable model.
Free Republic is one avenue where we can at least edit the “news”. But there is too much “drive by” commenting here anymore, the knowledgeable people don’t hang around.
When they do comment, I appreciate them...........................but getting harder to read through the trash to find them.
Maybe there should be a box for “My knowledge of this situation is” 1-10 so we can rate the comment.
But they have the cash to commit to two more seasons of woke-broke Dr . Who, now with a black woman.
... but it is cheap!
just so they leave the Baking Shows staffing alone.. I aspire to ‘Bake like a Brit’.
