TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Two Japanese men were diagnosed with pneumonia Wednesday while 11 others are showing symptoms including a fever and cough after they were evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the center of a deadly virus outbreak, authorities said.
A total of 206 people arrived in Tokyo early in the morning on a government-chartered plane, and 204 of them are being tested for infection with the new coronavirus. The remaining two did not consent, according to the health ministry and the Tokyo metropolitan government.
Among those repatriated, 12 were hospitalized including the two men in their 40s and 50s who have developed pneumonia, while three returned to their homes. All of the rest are staying at hotels in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo, the authorities said.
Seven cases of the new virus have been confirmed in Japan. The government on Tuesday said a tour bus driver became the first Japanese to be infected with the virus in the country.
The male driver in his 60s transported earlier this month two groups of Chinese tourists who were from Wuhan.

Its all about population genetics. The susceptibility, virulence within a given host and lethality have more to do with predominant genes present in a given population than any other factor. Asiatics seem to be more genetically susceptible to SARS and coronavirus and less susceptible to HIV and bubonic plague.
Yet recognizing differences in populations is so politically incorrect and taboo, scientific research is inhibited. If the science does not correspond to the prevailing political narrative, government organizations , even scientific agencies such as the CDC, take their cues from the politicians and the media.
I believe the US can address this much better than China. After all we do not have African Swine Fever here. It has devistated Chinese sounders

The sickle cell mutation protects from malaria when heterozygous. Malaria is so bad that even losing a portion of the population to the homozygous presentation of that gene is still less than the mortality loss to malaria itself.
Sometimes one can tell more from a planeload of people than from all of our lovely, trusted, government sources. Here’s my take:
1) Most of the people being evacuated are otherwise healthy people, living a normal (probably upscale though) life in China, and doing business there.
2) The fact that none have died (at least yet) supports the idea that healthy, non-elderly (and non-young) people are not being killed in as high numbers, but they’re still getting damn sick.
3) 13 people out of 206 on the plane is over 6%. If these people are otherwise representative of the people in Wuhan, and 6% of the people there are now infected, that then means that 66,000 are infected just in the city, and if the same applies to the sealed off region, then over 300,000. And that probably explains some of the videos coming out of there.
4) And also keep in mind that these 13 are only the ones showing symptoms...now.

Taiwanese authorities have ordered all 2,000 people coming back from Wuhan to wear electronic monitoring devices and stay in their own home to prevent the spread of the disease. Police will know immediately if anyone leaves home and place them in enforced quarantine, authorities said. The move comes after a man was fined $10,000 for failing to report his symptoms after traveling to Wuhan.
and in the meantime, the FBI has arrested the chair of Chemistry at Harvard...for you know, under-the-table dealings with China.

Put that together with yesterday's revelation about the section of the genome coding for the viral protein spike which enables 2019-nCoV to attach to endothelial cells way down in the lungs, rather than just (say) nasal passages...
Not that the link mentions that; but if one combines the known genetic engineering, with the idea of (speculating, stroking chin) looking at mammalian immune response, so that one could engineer viruses to lie undetected long enough for them to migrate to the lungs, or other targeted body tissues; you'd have simply a PEACH of a bioweapon. Transmissible without symptoms, leading to suddenly worsening condition, requiring intensive care and/or hospitalization and/or death after a couple of weeks. Perfect way to more than decimate (== by definition, remove 10% of) an enemy country.
If you tie that into differing susceptibilities of different ethnic groups...and I *know* (I've written articles with, alas!, now-expired links) the Chinese military has openly talked about biological weapons to depopulate the US so they could take over, getting our natural resources and infrastructure undamaged (which they couldn't do if they used nukes)...

The ‘depopulate the US’ makes me wonder, given the sort of initial lackadaisical initial response of the ChiComs.
However, unless they used real live humans of a variety of ethnic groups, it would be difficult to know what that virus would do once it hit those groups. (for CCP/PLA, I’m not going to discount that they’ve done this...I liken them to the Japanese in Nanking in the 30’s/early40’s. Nothing is off the table when it means their ethnic dominance)
I posted Chinese proganda last night of a video of the first recovered patient.
It was really funny..complete with clean hospital, no dead bodies, many doctors, flowers being given, etc.
They interviewed the patient and his brother.
Btw, many of the doctors were wearing those ill fitting masks..which really aren’t too helpful with this disease.
I don’t know what strain of flu I had last time. I was sick for a year. I was sick in bed for 3 months. It turned into sinus,ear, throat,lung, tooth roots, etc infection. Didn’t get pneumonia but had chest ex-ray and took 3 courses of antibiotics and steroids. I am in my 70th year and I figure if I get anything like that again, I will die of it.
They might’ve been PLA soldiers told to dress up as doctors, the real doctors being fled or dead.
They could have experimented just by releasing it here to see what happens.
There have been a lot of cases lately of the worst flu people have had lasting weeks. Not saying they did this..just that they could have in their experimentation.
Heck, the US Government used to give people LSD in public to experiment on them and would watch them in public.

The US. Has a large Asian population, especially in big cities. There is also a large Asian population in our colleges. If not checked, this will be a population changer. The virus will mutate.
