Obviously Susan Collins calculates the odds differently than you & I. She’s deliberately playing the Rhino because she thinks that’s what her key constituents in Maine want. If she could be painted as a conservative hardliner she thinks that she loses.
This was always going to be 51-49 on the question of witnesses. The only question was which 3 Rhinos would be “let out” of the vote. Collings & Romney were certainly looking for an excuse to defect. The NY Times leak gave them the excuse they needed.

Just my opinion but I do not think that Susan Collins elevator goes to the top floor. She has no intellectual capability. Mitt on the other hand is there to just stir up trouble.
