Some dude on CBS says mcconnell has a read on his jurors...and perhaps it is hurry up and get this done

turley says it was like a jackson pollack scattershot not a closing bring up and build the spine of the case to the jurors

The President’s Dream Team didn’t need to prove a negative. All they needed to do was show reasonable doubt.

They did their job. Now its up to the Senate to reach a verdict.

-- CBS asking if this was malpractice. --

LOL. That's an interesting way to avoid talking about what was said.

People should remember this is opening arguments, not closing arguments. Trump doesn’t need a “big finish” to the opening arguments. 16 hours of questions and answers are still to come over the next two days.

REcap of what Leader McConnell and CJ closed today’s session with....

Leader and Maj Leader have reached an agreement on how to proceed on the question period....

Question period will start when Senate reconvenes, on Wed.

Questions alternate, between the Majority and the Minority, for up to 8 hours.

On, Thursday, Senators will resume time for questions, again alternating, for up to 8 hours, during that session. (ugh)

Questions must be in writing and will be submitted to the Chief Justice.

Midge reminds everyone that during q&a of Clinton trial, Senators were thoughtful and brief...and, Managers and Council were succinct in their answers.

I hope we can follow both of these examples, during this time (lol).

CJ Roberts gives a reminder that Renquist, during Clinton’s trial, requested and received that each sides Counsel answered their questions in 5 mins, or less, and asked this court to do the same.

The outcome is not in question. A delay hurts Gardner and Collins the most of all because it keep the spotlight on them. The GOP Senate could not be doing any less in support of POTUS so a further delay really isn’t consequential for him.

I thought showing old clips of Nadler, Zoe Lofgren, and Chuck Schumer was a great way to end the opening arguments.

And after that, 4 hours equally divided for closing.

They keep it short and sweet. They didn’t waste the goodwill they earned with drawing it out.

It was very effective and I think Dershowitz last night brought it home when he said none of it is criminal conduct that rises to the level of an impeachable offense.

Democrats are seeking to throw Trump out of office because of policy disagreements.

That cannot be allowed to stand in the Senate.

He is talking about the closing. It was weird. It was basically a shrug as Turley said. 20 minutes more with a more effective close wouldn’t have hurt Collins.

It was a bad closing. It’s like Mcconnell pulled the hook to get the players off the stage in the middle of the final act

for up to 8 hours

I'm taking bets that this goes right up to 8 hours each day for a total of the FULL 16 hours. No way the Dems stop early, not a chance.

It showed up the Democrats as partisan hypocrites and yes - this was the partisan impeachment they decried back in 1998.

Under Clinton, 150 questions in 11 hours. That’s all they had in ‘em.

No matter what the defense said it would feel that way. Stretching it out would just make the managers seem credible. I like throwing their own words in their faces.
