KV: So you graduated from Drury with a degree in History, youre a history guy. If you could have dinner with three historical figures, living or dead, who would they be? And Im ruling out football figures.
MB: This is probably not going to get a good review, but Im going to say Adolf Hitler. It was obviously very sad and he had bad motives, but the way he was able to lead was second-to-none. How he rallied a group and a following, I want to know how he did that. Bad intentions of course, but you cant deny he wasnt a great leader.

A great film...one of my favorites.
“you cant deny he wasnt a great leader”
You got that right.
Some years ago, PBS showed some home movies of Hitler with a group of children. He appeared to have very good rapport with them. He was bouncing one of them on his knee, and the rest were sitting down, listening attentively. Occasionally he would crack a joke and they would all laugh.
I couldn’t help but think what if he had gone into child care instead of politics?
You really have to wonder why people open themselves up to this kind of crap. It takes a certain kind of stupid. He coulda said Justin Bieber and nothing would have happened.
“It is essential to know your enemy.”

Many people think it’s just a comment to be uttered in some circles to appear to be a deep thinker.
They do not comprehend or accept that one doesn’t have to like or admire an evil person to want to understand their thought process.
While there are subjects of which we don’t tolerate material in our house (sexual nature violence being one, for example) we still want to be able to communicate with rational thought about why they are bad.
Not having the knowledge available or worse having it and deliberately teaching it falsely is one reason the youth/young adults and even some much older folks are so foolish in their expectations of life.
Hope I didn’t put my foot in my mouth.
I do tend to do that, so often.
He did NOT praise Hitler in an interview! Hitler was one of three people he said he would like to meet, in response to a reporters question. He said, although he did not admire him, he would like to ask him how he managed to rally so many people to his cause. No healthy intellectual curiosity allowed nowadays?
I think Larry King was once asked who he would like to interview most and he said it was Hitler. When he was asked why, he said he that was the one question he had for Hitler. “Why?”
Jim Jones got a lot of people to follow him...
So did the Waco wacko
He had a cool mustache......
It is ignorance, not knowledge, that makes enemies of men.
You didn’t at all. She also has a copy of “Das Capital”. As I said....she’s a firm believer in “knowing your enemy” and is a firm believer in Christ.
You are 100% spot on. Hard to get more ignorant than a Nazi.
If asked about historic figures you would have dinner with, pick a “safe” choice, such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Eleanor Roosevelt, Barack Obama, FDR — someone who the liberals won’t attack you for wanting to meet.
The nuance of wanting to meet an evil or even a conservative figure is lost.on the liberal mind. In their mind, wanting to meet and dine with someone equals admiration and endorsement/approval of such a person.
I think I would pick Aristotle, Livy, and St. Peter. Interpreters to be supplied, I assume. I would ask Aristotle about Greek history, philosophy and science, Livy about Roman history, and St. Peter to fill in the gaps in what we know about the life of Jesus and about the early years of the Christian church.
“Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?”
Or Fidel a good pitcher.
Dumb to EVER mention Adolf, but GOOD GRIEF!
And Osama Bin Laden built hospitals.
Read Mein Kampf, Dummkopf!
