A mystery plane crashed Monday in Taliban-held territory in Afghanistans Ghazni province, south of the capital, Afghan officials said. It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the plane. Ariana Afghan Airlines denied reports that it was one of its passenger jets that had come down.
Provincial government spokesman Arif Noori told CBS News Ahmad Mukhtar the plane appeared to have been a flight between the southern city of Kandahar and the capital Kabul, about 200 miles to the north. Ghazni province is between those two locations
Noori said the body of two pilots was found at the crash site and that the plane was completely destroyed. He did not mention any other casualties. Noori said it did not belong to an Afghan carrier, but could not confirmed who was operating the aircraft.
Later, some experts reported that it was probably E-11A aircraft assigned to 430th Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron. Wreck of a plane crashed today in Afghanistan looks like to be a U.S. Air Force Bombardier Global 6000 / E-11A BACN (Battlefield Airborne Communications Node).
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and no details about casualties have been given.
Also in social media was released short footage that showed wreck of a plane with U.S. Air Forces emblem
E-11A is the military variant of the civil Bombardier BD-700 Global Express for use as overhead communications-relay platform in SW Asia. It carries Northrop Grumman Battlefield Airborne Communications Node, or BACN, allowing disparate battlefield communications systems to share data. BACN was deployed on a test Bombardier BD-700 & originally designated RC-700A under reconnaissance classification. Re-designated E-11A under special electronics installation category.
Also, Iranian regime spreading propaganda that the plane was full of high ranking CIA, including 'mastermind' of Soleimani killing.
Reports are 2 pilots & 4 military personnel on board.
All killed
Why would an electronic warfare bird be doing over Afghanistan?
Why=what
That’s horrible man.
All kinds of stuff. Listening to electronic things, communications, tracking signal emanations, etc. ,etc.
“one of four #USAF E-11A Battlefield Airborne Communications Node airplanes based in #Kandahar.”

Frightfully expensive plane. Unbelievable tech.
Doubtful amateurs could knock it down.
Monitoring all communications in the area. We have them in the air over numerous areas around the globe.
Wow - I was listening to WISN 1130 Milwaukee at around 1100 CST. Their news report stated about 100 bodies at the site. As usual, need to wait at least 24 hours to get more accurate story.
I’m looking for updates
Gotcha. SW ‘stan is close to Iran.
“The E-11 BACN is a vital airborne signal relay, enabling real-time communications between friendly forces in the air and on the ground. There are only four E-11 aircraft in the Air Force, operating a 24-hour, “no-fail” mission. All four E-11s belong to the 430th Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron, subordinate to the 451st Air Expeditionary Group, at KAF.”
Cannot find anything about which company builds it.
The photos I’ve seen show large portions of the plane intact. Does not look like it fell from 40,000.
Report that it was about 6 miles from a military base.
One report (USA Today) said Taliban were looking for 2 possible survivors who escaped the crash
Let’s see if this crash or the Kobe crash gets more coverage........never mind.
Looks like a lot of scorching on the top. Almost like an electrical fire that got out of hand too quickly.
Had no idea we had such a thing.
I’m getting old.
Looking at the video it appears to me that the plane was in a controlled mode when it hit the ground with the major portion of the mostly intact fuselage destroyed by fire. There was little or no evidence of an explosion or shoot down.
This crash is meaningless to the msm. Except that it was a “spy plane” and that gets their attention. They probably like the Iranain regime propaganda
