“Your way is nothing but a cop-out.”

Nope. It led to Trump and a new kind of GOP. Your way would have given us President Romney and the same old BushGOP, open borders forever until all US became California.

A last-minute revelation is as predictable as the sun rising. Impeachment is an inherently risky business and anything could happen in these non-serious and non-sensical times. No one can be complacent. But there is greater risk to witnesses for the Dems than to President Trump or the Republicans —> This is clearly a Hail Mary by the Dems and shows their desperation.

I’d really like to have Hunter Biden, the Whistleblower, Michael Atkins and others testify, because what we’d learn is likely devastating to the Dems. Indeed, if we end up not having witnesses, it will likely be due to Dems waking up and realizing that a Bolton for Biden et al. witness trade works to their extreme disadvantage.

I have always loathed John Bolton, but he’s brilliant. He won’t let himself go down in history as the guy who brought down the President of the United States. Dems are fools to put him on the stand.

The NYT is already backing away from the story. Haberman is tweeting Bolton has credibility issues. Bolton’s camp saying no of the reporting is true. But sure Mitt, feed the delusion a few Trump haters.

even with Romney, we’d still have a fighting chance.

No, open borders destroys the country. We had to get a party that stood for border protection. That wouldn’t happen without the GOP being fundamentally transformed at the top, starting with the defeat of the Bush-McCain-Romneyites.

“Then they damned well better agree to a subpoena for Biden”

Is it conceivable that Bolton could be subpoenaed without allowing the repubs to subpoena the Bidens and the whistleblower?

If there really was a viable alternative in 2012, I’d agree, but nobody else was going to get more than 1-2%. And it’s not as if those candidates were anything to write home about, neither.

If the Senate calls witnesses, will the Trump team get to call theirs? Or will the Senate merely strip executive privilege for the Rat witnesses and screw Trump over?

Good point Third or fourth hand hearsay from a fellow who has a grudge to begin with — and who himself admits was only supposing without any direct knowledge. Totally worthless

Agree, I voted for Romney and I couldn’t stand him. But we have to put this in context; as bad as the Deep State Bushes were, they did put Alito and Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. Of course, they also put Souter and of a lesser problem, Roberts, on the Court. But we would not have gotten anyone near to Alito and Thomas with Kerry or Dukakis in the White House. So I held my nose (literally) and voted for Romney.

Romney never met fence that was too narrow to sit on...

That's why he is only half an arse rather than a full arse.

A defense lawyer would FLIP his lid if his jury heard something like this.

I think the idea was for Bolton to be the “Bad Cop” to Trump’s “Good Cop”.

Fine idea until he found out Bolton really WAS bad.

Federal officeholders -- i.e., senators and congressmen -- cannot be recalled. This has been litigated in federal court (Frank Church, Idaho, 1967) and state court (Robert Menendez, New Jersey, 2013).
