One person is dead and several are injured following a head-on crash involving a charter bus carrying Covington Catholic students, Campbell County police said.
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of the AA Highway at California Crossroads in Campbell County.
According to witnesses on the scene, a southbound car somehow entered the northbound lanes of the highway, striking the charter bus head-on.
"I saw a car come across the median and head toward me," said Ricky Lynn, a witness who was also driving north. "I was able to get out of the way."
The driver of the wrong-way car was pronounced dead at the scene. That driver's name has not been released.
I wonder if someone has figured out how to remotely steer a car.
So terribly sad.
Prayers for all.
Okay Avalon. Calm down. Covington is right across the river from Cincinnati (where I live). I have friends and co-workers who have kids at Cov Cath. They took ONE BUS to DC. Nick was on it.
So the only dead was the driver of the car or someone else on the bus as well?
Yes, the 1 dead appears to be the driver of the car.
Kids and chaperones and bus driver are all ok, and got out via emergency exits.
I’m actually impressed at the structural integrity of that Prevost bus. There appears to be no intrusion into either the cab or passenger compartments. I can only assume that the one fatality on the bus met a very harrowing fate, not belted in, possible walking in the aisle and sent through that massive windshield due to the force of the impact.
[Something was happening in the spiritual realms.]
Actually, that’s probably true.
[Which tells us its a possibility that its a muslim name-]
Or a liberal...
(only half-joking)
I am with you these people are TRULY INSANE!!!
I was left with the impression that there was a fatality on the bus in addition to the driver of the wrong-way vehicle that hit them head on. Good news if so.
You people have not read the CBC. ?
The car intentionally crossed the median and drove south in the northbound lanes ?
(Thats what the witness said)
From the article:

“I saw a car come across the median and head toward me,” said Ricky Lynn, a witness who was also driving north. “I was able to get out of the way.”

He was at the Right to Life march, we do not know whether he was on the bus.
LOL
[Actually, thats probably]
LOL @ myself.
We’ll just go with “that’s probably true”.
There was no fatality on the bus; only 1 fatality and it was the car's driver who hit the bus:
"The driver of the wrong-way car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger compartment of that white sedan is not deformed either, very surprising with such a head-on impact. Airbags deployed. I wonder if the driver was having some sort of medical emergency that contributed to his death because the wreckage looks very survivable.
