The United States is arranging a charter flight on Sunday to bring its citizens and diplomats back from the Chinese city of Wuhan, epicenter of the outbreak of a new coronavirus, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.
The plane, with around 230 people, will carry diplomats from the U.S. consulate as well as U.S. citizens and their families, the Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the operation.

Well, the WuFlu will be the flavor of the week to distract from the Donkey Diarrhea spread by Schiff & Company.
Quarantine and observe.
Wu Han was the birthplace of a famous American, Jayne Meadows.
That’s for a general population.
This is a captive audience, so to speak, of 230 people. You already have them, so there isn’t a problem of them going underground and hiding.
Why would you want to bring people who don’t have the disease into those who do? The point of a quarantine is to contain the disease so that it doesn’t spread to the uninfected/untreated. Flying people out risks exposure to those outside of it.
IMO: Send citizens in quarantined cities to their embassies or consulates within their quarantined city and _fly in_ medical specialists and scientists, equipment, and drugs for governments that want give their citizens the best care they can and study the disease there.
Interesting. Now that you mention it, I do recall that she was born in China. I think her parents were missionaries.
A ship would be better. Wasn’t there a movie once about this sort of situstion?

There is a two week incubation period .
All need to be quarantined for that period on a military base and none of this house quarantine nonsense .
Of course! They aren’t just being booked on any old plane heading out with a whole bunch of other unsuspecting passengers. Their lives are at stake.
I have moved on from this old fashioned and ineffective idea and so should you.
I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve gotten so disgusted with US “diplomats” over this Trump impeachment effort that my first thought was leave them there.
It appears the majority of Americans actually were left there, though. What was so special about the 200-plus that were airlifted out, versus the over 700 left behind? Diplomats über alles I suspect.
And, are they going to be literally quarantined so as to not spread the contagion?
I agree with ptsal.
Quarantine!!!!!
It’s too late for that, the horse has left the barn
When I was in the Army, I caught the chicken pox from my roommate and both of us ended up in quarantine at the base hospital for about 10 or 14 days.........Weird thing tho, the skin on the bottom of my hands peeled off.
You have to ask yourself just how many American citizens are there in China?
I wonder how many of them are poor little American factory born?
