My godmother saw her in 1961 in a Philadelphia tryout of her first show, “I Can Get it for You Wholesale,” where she played Sadie Marmelstein, the girl who was “one hundred percent pure” and hated it. My godmother said, “That girl is going to be a star.” Today she is a public scold, but she can sure sing. This is from 1985.
