The Senate spectator gallery was at least half-empty throughout the first week of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial and senators serving as the jury in the marathon sessions are taking notice — some stunned that there aren’t more people watching history unfold, while others understand the public avoiding the repetitive proceedings.
“I’m really surprised at that because this is kind of historic and I would think this would be an opportunity for people to get in there regardless of whose side you are on,” Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) told The Post Friday.
Journalists aren’t allowed to bring cellphones or cameras into the gallery, so the noticeably small audience is known directly only to people able to access the chamber.

The average Joe knows this entire proceeding is an absolute crock and have absolutely know interest in wasting their time watching it.
I do believe the audience will increase somewhat to watch Trumps team brutally embarrass the imbecilic House managers though.
I haven’t even watched any of the televised coverage. Every time I went to C-Span, I saw Schiff spewing his....schiff, and turned off.
I do want to hear Sekulow; I’ve always been very impressed with him.
Meanwhile, I search all over the dial to watch the March for Life and our president, something REALLY important to me filled with good and honest people who are showing up by the millions. The media and govt is purposefully ignoring this, so why should I pay attention to them?
Its boring and it’s bullshit and everybody knows it. It’s a fail. Nobody wants to be part of a fail.
Me, too. From what little I heard, the Dem side was simply regurgitated the same presumptions in the previous house “trial”.
People get enough comic relief on television these days.
There they can already see people t-off on Trump.

I really don’t know what’s average on this.
But I do know a lot of people who don’t generally understand much about government or politics even if its explained to them who have come to believe that impeachment is there for rape, murder, or treason during an all out war and that it has always been misused.
Let’s see how the gallery looks when the good guys start their presentations.
