Accused NYC serial burglar released again and again and again thanks to new bail law

An accused serial burglar was able to steal packages from Brooklyn apartment buildings over and over around Christmas thanks to the state’s new bail law, the Daily News has learned.

Anthony Manson, 50, was arrested for nine burglaries in Prospect Lefferts-Gardens and Crown Heights on Dec. 23, police said. He appeared before a judge on Christmas and was released — only to be busted for six more break ins on Jan. 3, cops said. He was released yet again — and then was nabbed for ripping off a Manhattan sunglasses store on Wednesday.

Even Manson was stunned when he walked out of court for the alleged burglary of the West Village sunglasses store, Center Stage Optique. A police officer said he saw Manson leave the store at 1:50 a.m. through a broken glass door carrying a stash of shades worth $3,995. He had a rock — a burglary tool of choice — in a suitcase, according to a criminal complaint.

“I’m surprised,” Manson said outside Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday after receiving his third order of supervised release. “I never could make bail before. I always had to take the alternative: a program or jail.

“I’m poor. I couldn’t afford to pay no bail. I can’t afford to eat.”

Same kind of crap is happening in Chicago - serious offenders getting released with no bail. My guess is that this is a policy being pursued by Soros-backed attorney general and states attorney candidates, local races in which apparently that POS is currently making (and has been making) a big national funding push.

This no-bail thing was supposed to be for minor crimes only. So I guess that stealing $3995 worth of goods is a minor crime in NYC.

If he’d stolen USPS packages, the feds could step in, but he stole Amazon packages.

If the stupid Republican party can’t make some hay combating this Dem lead plague of destruction, and start standing up for the rights of us Normies to live in peace, they are idiots.

Its incredible the material they are being given to run on. Any fight against this lunacy you hear of today is coming directly from Trump. The GOP is MIA.

I’m waiting for how bad they screw up this Senate Trial now.

I expect this will lead to “vigilante” justice.

They just need to pick the wrong address to burglar, like perhaps the Ravinate Social Club on Mulberry Street (in its hayday).

Agreed. You are right about Trump. Trump Jr. is good too, he really lets ‘em have it sometimes.

OK, he was released.

So what? What’s the difference than if he had posted bail?

Either way he is not in jail pending trial

Alternate ending:

Joe Public, taxpayer and burglary victim, beats Manson within an inch of his life with a baseball bat...

Guess who would be back out on the street first?

It is risk vs reward. If you post bail and commit another crime you usually forfeit your bail. Now there is zero risk and 100% reward.

The Stupid Republican Party is too afraid of looking like they don’t care. But if they would only pick up on this and go all in on protecting women’s sports from “transgender” women athletes, they’d win everything hands down.
