He spoke as BBC News launched a year of special coverage on global warming.

Is the fundamental problem human overpopulation?
According to the United Nations, the current world population is about 7.7 billion and could reach 9.7 billion in 2050.
This population growth drives higher demand for food, greater energy consumption and more competition for resources. And it increases the production of the gases that cause global warming.
And a recent major study, by a global group of 11,000 scientists, concluded that the world needs to stabilise its population.
The study has attracted quite a deal of controversy, but its authors say such action is needed if the world is to avoid what they call "a catastrophic threat" from climate change.

What can you do about climate change? LOL!! How undeveloped in the mind.

I recommend that anyone who asks what they can do about Climate Change™ immediately get on a plane for Beijing and begin a loud protest in front of Communist Party Headquarters. That may not solve Climate Change, but the rest of us sane human beings wouldn’t have to deal with you anymore.
It would be nice if someone would ask these 11,000 scientists what the acceptable levels of population would be. I would not even demand that they be super-specific, just give us an acceptable level to within say +- 2 billion people. That way we have them on record.
Send a stern letter to the leaders of China and India.
Give every last dollar you have to the government.
They will solve it.
If you don’t, the government will eventually take it anyway.
The resolution of Climate Change will take much longer if they have to resort to this; you will likely die from Climate Change before the problem is solved so....
Once upon a time, environmental activists claimed that they wanted to save the planet for the children. Now they want to save the planet from the children.
Nothing we can do will “tackle” the climate.
The Sun will determine the temperature of earth as it always has.
The next Ice Age WILL happen.

Good question. And that fine gentlemen who’s picture you posted did his level best to solve the problems of human overpopulation.
All colleges and universities should ban gas cars from their campus.
Invent a way to stop all volcanos from erupting. Even just one volcano can affect climate change more than all human impact.
The 2nd law of thermodynamics can be a bummer sometimes.
