01/16/2020 - VA-ALERT: Governor Northam's Lobby Day Gun Ban (VCDL)
VCDL.org ^ | January 16, 2020 | Philip Van Cleave

Posted on 01/16/2020 6:28:48 AM PST by Perseverando

I'm sure that everyone has now heard that Governor Northam has declared a state of emergency and banned the carrying & possession of weapons on Capitol Square in Richmond from 5:00 pm Friday, January 17 to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 21.

VCDL believes that this gun ban is illegal. Our legal team is looking at our options and we will keep you advised as soon as we have a definitive plan. As it stands now, you can carry on 9th Street, or other nearby streets, as long as you don't go into the fenced-in Capitol grounds area (or into any of the government buildings). There will be 17 magnetometers to speed up security for those wishing to be on the Capitol grounds, which puts you near the stage. You CAN have a knife with a blade LESS THAN 3 inches. Again, wait for final word on the Capitol grounds gun-ban situation over the weekend.

Every year since 2002, VCDL has come to the General Assembly to peacefully assemble and lobby our elected officials on Martin Luther King Day. The only difference this year is that the crowd size is expected to be significantly larger due to the Democrat leadership's promise to pass draconian gun control laws that would adversely affect law-abiding citizens while having minimal impact on criminals.

The Governor claimed in his Executive Order that there has been credible intelligence gathered suggesting that the purpose of many of the participants in VCDL's Lobby Day is not to peacefully assemble but instead is to foment "violence, rioting, and insurrection." Yet, neither the Governor nor any of his law enforcement has informed VCDL of any of these alleged threats.

The inflammatory rhetoric from Democrats (including the Governor, Attorney General, Congressman McEachin, Delegate Levine, and many others) regarding the Second Amendment Sanctuary movement and VCDL's Lobby Day leads us to wonder if they really want Lobby Day to go peacefully.

The Democrats are afraid of the voters and want to portray this peaceful assembly of law-abiding gun owners in the worst possible way. They would love for it to degenerate to "violence, rioting, and insurrection" in order to smear gun owners. Has the Democrat leadership actually invited violent groups to attend for the purpose of disrupting our peaceful assembly?

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS: There have been many rumors, videos, and articles flying around the internet. We cannot stress enough that this is a peaceful day to assemble and address our Legislature about protecting our right to keep and bear arms. Lobby Day is NOT about statues, flags, racism, sexism, or anything other than protecting the right to keep and bear arms for ALL law-abiding citizens.

Yes, we hold a rally, but the point of the day is communication with our legislators. (Note that a rally is not the same thing as a protest.)

To our knowledge there are no credible threats of violence. That being said, please practice appropriate situational awareness. IF YOU SEE A BAD ACTOR flag down a police officer and point it out. If someone tries to provoke you, smile and walk away. There is probably someone secretly recording the interaction, with the intent of capturing some kind of inappropriate reaction on your part. Don't take the bait. It's not worth the bad press. Again, you might want to notify law enforcement of such bad actors.

The eyes of the nation and the world are on Virginia and VCDL right now and we must show them that gun owners are not the problem. Lead by example. We have been, and continue to be, in close contact with several law enforcement agencies and will keep them informed of all potential threats that we become aware of. Law enforcement will be in abundance at the event, both uniformed and plain clothes, to provide security and we are sincerely appreciative of their efforts to keep everyone as safe as possible.

John Brown was hanged as a traitor. Yet within a couple years hundreds of thousands of men were marching to war singing his name.

To all those going... bring cameras, lots of cameras and film, film, film. And then once filmed save all movies to safe place for distribution to the Internet. Then release the videos to the Internet for all to see. Videos will show the truth. There will be lies and misinformation and the state and local governments will try to hide the truth.

Important: remember that your cameras might be damaged or confiscated. Have a contingency plan for getting the important video off of them and to the Internet. Most smart phones have a camera and an Internet connection.

Stay safe.

Good luck with that legal debate with the riot police.

Exactly, a pocket constitution is useless if the police fail to keep the two sides separated as they did in Charlottesville.

Buffalo jump - yeah, no kidding. Thanks for your prior warnings about this, but now Northam is telegraphing it in the open. Anyone who goes there with a firearm is either as dumb as a bag of hammers, or is an agent provocateur.

Stay TF away from Richmond. Send in suited lobbyists to let each and every legislator know that they face political extinction if they vote for these laws - ANY of them. But don’t, for God’s sake, take your guns and walk into a political (and possibly physical) trap set by our enemies.

Do what that ‘idiot’ Antonio Brown did the other day.

He live-streamed his confrontation with the police while screaming at his wife - who was in the street with Police and their kids...guess he streamed it to ‘prove’ he wasn’t hitting her or approaching the police BUT what he did stream just proved he isn’t only an idiot but anything she may claim to have or happened etc will just be basically proven by his own evidence that he really isn’t in control of himself.

Technology has fostered a whole new line of idiot...

Who- in their right mind - would put a beating on someone, film it and post it for the world to see, then claim innocence?

Guess the result of the ‘make believe’ world people are being raised in.

True. And the evidence can go both ways. Be on your best behavior and if/when the police get violent, record it.

A favorable video for the cause will go a very long way towards winning the war with the governor in VA.

Charlottesville v2.0

Governor AborTham threw down the gauntlet late yesterday afternoon on WRVA. He stated that there was word that The Capital would be rushed on Monday. So....
He and the mayor spoke on the radio, stating that their would be no lawlessness. Richmond will be a police state starting this Saturday through Monday.

If you are coming, please Do Not spend a dime in the city! These pricks are out of control.

ANTIFA will most likely be on the loose. Yet, the citizens will be checked.

Also, new “bills” are forthcoming. Cameras will be used on the major highways, and 10+ MPH will net you a ticket.

1984.

Hey Baby Killing Northam -

How about calling out your Antifa, Marxist, rabble-rousing violent allies?

Know that the leftist anarchists WILL be armed. I wouldn’t go near the place without my EDC.

The Leftists will get a pass from the "security forces". You wouldn't. Best not to go near the place at all.

It's a trap.

How about nobody from our side shows up, and we leave all the Antifa types to pick fights with the police? Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Charlottesville v2.0

A perfect example of the police standing down and letting the animals loose on decent folks. We should meet deep in the reddest of red areas, somewhere that makes it very, very HARD for Antifa & other communists to get to. Let's be real; they own the cities and we own the countryside. Think of this in terms of the Vietnam dynamic. Our troops never could control the countryside and it was painful when we entered it.

Yes, and “accelerationists” are promoting the Richmond Buffalo Jump for just this reason.

They actually WANT a catastrophe in Richmond.

“Charlottesville X Waco Twin Peaks.”

Here is a thought. I would place a significant bet that ANTIFA thugs will be present, wearing their typical black outfits, and fully augmented with face/head covers. They will be allowed to be fully covered.

Imaging each and every gun supporter wearing the same garb, only in camouflage.

Imagine who the police would harrass. Who’s side are they on? Should I ask?

Imaging each and every gun supporter wearing the same garb, only in camouflage.

That might present some highly amusing incidents, and a difficult problem for the police forces.

But every body is wearing a mask? Who is gonna beat on who? I suppose the cops would just whack them all and sort it out later. On the whole, I believe there would be too much chance of "friendly-fire" casualties for me to be very enthusiastic about such a plan.

As others here have pointed out, it would be much simpler and safer to have public, and non-violent, demonstrations in friendly territory, well outside of the blue zones.

Nothing is going to change the minds of the legislators. They are going to turn the screws on the rural county residents no matter what. It can only be a matter of rallying 2nd Amendment supports for counter-actions.

Like a serious move for 90% of the Virginia Counties to secede to West Virginia, and blockade enforcement crews out of Richmond, for example.

Personally I would rather form a new state than join with WV. Why not try to hurt the Dems in this process?

The only agency that the governor can control directly is the state police.
They have their hands full with what they do, highway patrol.
2200 troopers spread across 42,000 square miles and a population of 8.5 million.
The locals have already said they won’t enforce.
They will pass them and not enforce them just like New York did.
