Democrats are getting nervous as they realize their base is tuning them out
American Thinker ^ | 01/15/2020 | Andrea Widburg

It's fascinating to watch some of the smarter Democrats drag themselves out of their own Trump-hatred long enough to realize that their party is in trouble at a fundamental level.  Such is the case with Peter Hamby, who wrote an article for Vanity Fair entitled, "'Like, I'll tune in when there's two weeks left': Why Trump has a huge advantage over dems with low-information voters."

What Hamby is concerned about is the fact that the media are so excessively self-involved that they no longer know how to communicate information and ideas to the voters media types want to reach most: people who are not politically engaged on a day-to-day basis but must turn out to vote on November 3 if the Democrat candidate is to win.

Hamby notes that traveling reporters have nothing but disdain for those who spend their days sitting at their desks reading and reporting on Twitter:

[T]he stories and micro-scandals that obsess political and media insiders — often played out in episodic fashion on Twitter — matter little to voters who are too busy and too well-adjusted to follow every nanosecond of the political news cycle. It's hard to overstate how salient this discontinuity will be in the current election year.

After slinging several pointless personal attacks at Trump and his supporters, Hamby grudgingly notes that Trump is a master communicator who speaks directly to Americans about things that matter to them.  Meanwhile, the media are obsessing about "wine caves, pay-fors, court packing, white privilege, and Iowa's role in the nomination process."

This disconnect doesn't just affect media profitability.  Hamby understands the real problem, which is that, outside the hard-Left Democrat base, voters neither know nor care about the candidates.  The only thing that jazzes black voters (still) is Obama.

Look what happened to Labour in the recent British elections, that’s what the Democrats are facing.

The Bernie people are already getting peeved again that the DNC establishment is trying purposely to rig the race against him.

It sounds like the “low information” voters figured out the mass media were slimy con artists—that makes them “high information” in my book!

HA HA! HA HA! poor dems gonna lose! poor dems keep trying things that fail! wet-the-bed-gate, dump Kavanaugh, muller report, grilling muller, impeachment, blame iran’s troubles on Trump. All failures!

We’re gonna reelect Trump and the dems will be screaming all night at Jupiter! They’re gonna try Impeachment II, and it will fail too!

They are nothing. They have nothing. Make them lose!

Whenever my wife feels tuned out she takes her top off so I’ll pay attention. So maybe we have that to look forward to among the democrats. Bernie in a Speedo and Gabbard in a Hooters outfit? Biden will do quality control checks by hand.

Gabbard isn't polling high enough or raising enough $ to even be on the stage.

Both parties have bases that live in a echo chamber bubble.

FR is a bubble-—it is not representative of the country.

Yes, Demographics are changing, but demographics will not be destiny....yet...for the Democrats

Hispanics are a swing vote and Republicans should appeal to them.....most Americans don’t believe in Twitter/leftwing talk.

The billionaires need to open up suitcases full of cash and start throwing the cash out to the audience.

That should get some crowds to the astro-turf campaigns!

Every group has its’ conservatives and its’ liberals.

The GOP has failed in the past to galvanize minority conservatives, and really it shouldn’t be all that hard to do, you don’t have to pander.

I believe Trump is succeeding where the Country Clubbers failed in the past.

Two things going on here:

1) Like Van Jones, deep inside these voters realize that NONE of these candidates will likely beat Trump.

2) Promises of FREE SH** up till now have not been nearly compelling enough for them.

The Democrats don’t stand a chance. Their platform is punitive...Everything free, open borders, endless chain immigration, restricted rights, more taxes, more regulation, more control, etc...

Trump in the first round KO’s these stooges in 2020.

You don’t think a majority of us who follow this and other sites realize the bias here? That be said FR and others like it more more honest than progressive sites and about 90% of the media.

No sale. Ya think all these people here are special hand picked biased political consultants? I know better as everywhere I go off-line, the overall majority of people are saying the same *exact* things that are being said here on a daily bases.
